As usual, there is a calm before the storm for E3, especially on Microsoft’s side. Few announcements have been made for the Xbox 360 and what we can expect this holiday season. Aksys Games, a publisher of interactive entertainment software, is pleased to announce that the hit 2D fighting game for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, /BlazBlue: Continuum Shift/, will be updated with all new content and bug fixes, taking the system version to 1.03. The data for system version 1.03 and Platinum the Trinity will be available in the month of May.

On April 23, you can be part of breaking the world record for ‘The most people running a virtual 100m dash at one time’. If accomplished, which it will most likely will be if you look at the competition (which is none), it will be set in stone in the next issue of the Guinness Book of World Records. Santa Monica, CA – April 11, 2011 – The global phenomenon that is Call of Duty®: Black Ops, which has set video game and entertainment records, is poised to raise the stakes on May 3rd with the release of its second content pack Call of Duty®: Black Ops Escalation. Call of Duty: Black Ops continues to attract millions of gamers around the world online, logging more than 2 billion hours played and counting. The game’s debut content pack, First Strike,shattered Xbox LIVE® launch records upon its release in February when it surpassed 1.4 million downloads in the first 24 hours alone. The follow up content pack, Escalation, will launch first on Xbox LIVE and features four all-new multiplayer maps, and a Zombies experience like none before it.
Bethesda Softworks today announced that its acclaimed first-person shooter, Brink, will be available one week earlier than originally scheduled. Brink will now first be available for purchase in North America on May 10th instead of May 17th, and in Europe on May 13th instead of May 20th.
Gametrailers has released the latest trailer for the highly anticipated car combat title Twisted Metal. This trailer showcases some of the live action cutscenes and some explosive gameplay to boot. Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment released another trailer for their upcoming RPG. The trailer reveals the character Lucas, one of four playable heroes in Dungeon Siege III. In the trailer, Lucas fights with a sword and easily slashes his way through swarms of enemies. Dungeon Siege is set for release on May 31, 2011 for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. Day 1 Studios released another trailer for Fear 3 earlier today. As can always be expected with the Fear franchise; it looks absolutely terrifying. A few new features will set it apart from its predecessor. For the first time players will have the option to play cooperatively through the campaign with a friend. Additionally, players will be able to choose between two main characters: Point Man and Paxton Fettel. Both will offer different perspectives on the story line. Release is set for May 24th, 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Since I only recently stopped having nightmares of Alma thanks to Fear 2, I’ve watched the trailer a few times in order to brace myself for the inevitable terror that awaits:
Japanese-based publisher Capcom has officially confirmed the existence of Operation Raccoon City, a third person team-based shooter being developed by Slant Six. Operation Raccoon City is being developed for the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 and it set to release this winter.
