The development team at Timberline Studio released the video game The Red Lantern in late 2021. It’s a first-person survival game where you play “The Musher,” master of a dogsled who is lost and searching for her way home. To survive you must navigate the Alaskan wilderness, watch out for danger, and keep your five sled dogs happy and protected.
One of the more veteran video game music cover bands, The OneUps, celebrates their 20th anniversary in 2022. And to celebrate, they’re publishing their first vinyl release through Troggo Studio. 20, a limited edition 500-print run retrospective vinyl, will be released in mid-November.
It took 34 years, but Hasbro is finally putting out an official soundtrack for the landmark 1984 cartoon The Transformers. Believe it or not, there’s never been one until now, though there have been unofficial efforts.
A number of classic Rare games are set to see their soundtracks released on vinyl. The developer is teaming up with iam8bit, a studio that has previously worked on another of other soundtracks, to release Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, and Viva Pinata.
As an extra special bonus, the Conker’s Bad Fur Day will come as a two-piece album with extra music that has never been released before. Each of the vinyl releases will also come with a digital download code so you can listen to them on modern devices as well.
iam8bit have successfully created vinyls of other classic video game soundtracks. As well as collaborations with Rare to release the original Battletoads and Perfect Dark albums, they have worked on games such as Cuphead, Hyper Light Drigter, and Orio and the Blind Forest.
Dark Souls publisher Bandai Namco is releasing a limited edition vinyl set of the franchise’s distinctive soundtrack. Known as the Age of Fire collection, it will arrive in autumn, however, there will only be 2,000 copies manufactured. The set will include music from across all three games and will comprise of nine separate records.
The number of classic video game soundtracks you can collect on the 20th century’s most popular music format is growing. Soon you’ll be able to add Zelda to the list when Hero of Time, a new recording of the Ocarina of Time soundtrack by a 64-piece orchestra, is released by iam8bit.
The soundtrack to the hit indie platformer Shovel Knight is set to be released on vinyl. The Double-LP Blue Vinyl, which features every song from the game, is available to pre-order right now from BigWax.
