Why should you be interested in the upcoming tactical strategy game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim? Because of the name on the box: Vanillaware. And if that brand doesn’t ring any bells, the words “Odin Sphere” or “Dragon’s Crown” should.
In 2013 Atlus and Vanillaware introduced to the world Dragon’s Crown, a co-op action RPG with gorgeous graphics in the style of Odin Sphere (it was painted by the same people). Odin Sphere was remastered for the PS4, so fans asked, why not Dragon’s Crown? Atlus heard you and is introducing Dragon’s Crown Pro to the Playstation 4 this May.
Dragon’s Crown, under the watchful eye of the not-so-benevolent press, received a great deal of negative criticism before being made available to our lovely consoles, both home and handheld, to truly give it a think before passing judgement. With its release under a week away, did Vanillaware‘s latest offering deserve to be observed with such spiteful scrutiny for its appearance or is there more to it than meets the eye?
