Adult Swim Premieres For The Weekend Of August 19

We had no idea if Primal would be back this week and it……..IS back! We’re forging ahead with Episode 6; there will not be a break in the middle like Season 1 had. It would have made for a strange break anyway — last week’s episode (which Genndy wouldn’t allow a preview for) was quite a departure, focusing on four British men in the 1890s fending off an escaped asylum patient. No, really — go watch the episode if you don’t believe us. We’re having a hard time believing it ourselves. But Spear and Fang are back this week and that Viking chief who vowed vengeance on them will be back as well. Primal airs tonight, Thursday, August 18 at 12 AM ET/PT. If you miss this showing, you can catch the same episode when it reruns on Toonami Saturday night at 12 AM ET/PT. Adult Swim Premieres For The Weekend Of August 12

This week’s Adult Swim premieres are the same deal as the last few weeks — Primal on Thursday (AKA today), Tuca & Bertie on Sunday. We have no idea if tonight’s episode of Primal is the midseason finale. The previous two times the show has run, it’s been in five-episode bites with a year or so between them. This is the fifth episode, but AS hasn’t used the words “season finale” or “midseason finale” or anything, so we have no idea if there’s more Primal next week or a repeat. What we do know is….nothing, because we can’t see it. Literally, AS can’t show anything from tonight’s episode because their contract with Genndy gives him control over what appears in the promos. (That must be a nice contract to have!) And apparently anything would be a big spoiler. Adult Swim Premieres For The Weekend Of August 5

As we stare down the barrel of doom in regards to Adult Swim and everything else under the Warner Bros umbrella, let’s take the time to appreciate what we have, while we have it. And what we have is darn good: new episodes of Primal and Tuca & Bertie. The new Primal episode premieres tonight at midnight. Even if it survives the Purge unscathed, Primal seasons are super-short, divided in half and served up five episodes apiece. We’re on Episode 4 this week, if you haven’t been counting. And as with the previous weeks, AS did not provide an episode description for what happens tonight, but there IS a video clip. The events of tonight’s episode directly follow last week’s episode, and Spear’s attempts to rescue his new friend Mira from a clan of Viking warriors called the Scorpions. The Adult Swim premieres for this week are as good as they get! Primal and Tuca & Bertie are both top-quality programs. Don’t miss either of ’em and give them your full support so that we get more! There was no official episode description for Primal last week, and there isn’t one this week either, so I take it there will never be any hints beyond the episode clips AS posts online. All we know is that Spear (the caveman) finds a bunch of cave paintings, and looks shocked, even though you’d think he would have seen that kind of thing before. Adult Swim Premieres For The Weekend Of July 22

So ordinarily we post these Adult Swim premiere articles when the weekend starts. Why are we doing this one now? Because AS is starting BEFORE the weekend this week. One of the coolest shows they’ve ever produced, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal, premieres its second season TONIGHT. Primal is Tartakovsky at his Tartakovskiest. It’s a nearly dialogue-free cartoon about a caveman and a T-Rex teaming up to help each other survive in a primitive world — it takes the vibe of Samurai Jack and takes it to another level. Adult Swim provided no description of what happens in tonight’s episode, but that’s probably for the better….you want to go into these cold. Primal returns tonight, Thursday, July 21 at 12 AM ET/PT. Adult Swim Premieres For The Weekend of July 16

Look for two bird-themed cartoons to make your weekend brighter in this week’s overview of Adult Swim premieres. Looks like the second season of Birdgirl will be about as long as the first one was, which is….not very long. They only ordered enough episodes to last a month, but there’s one left: “The S.I.M.” According to Adult Swim’s official description of the episode, “The Birdteam discovers a politically-incorrect alternate universe.” Find out what that means Sunday, July 17 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. Then there’s Tuca & Bertie, which has really grown to be one of the best things on Adult Swim even it didn’t technically start as an AS original. I mean it — the first two episodes of Season 3 were absolutely hilarious and if you missed them, you need to boot up HBO Max now and watch them (or wait for the repeats, if you’re a traditionalist). Enjoy this weekend, because it is not to be repeated: NINETY FULL MINUTES of never-before-aired Adult Swim originals. There will be a new Birdgirl followed by the return of two other bird girls, Tuca & Bertie. First up is “With A K,” the episode of Birdgirl that airs Sunday, July 10 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. According to Adult Swim’s official description of the episode, “Birdgirl falls hard for a musky vigilante.” OK….not much there. We’ve got to get to the SEO mark somehow. Fortunately two episodes of Tuca and Bertie provide much more material. And if you’re not watching Tuca & Bertie, you should start!
