The Dragon Prince is a Netflix original series, released in 2018 and has an impressive five seasons under its belt. The popularity has led to books, comics and an RPG. Today’s post is for a comprehensive Tales of Xadia RPG review. The game released on March 29, 2022, and as someone who never watched the TV show before, it flew under my radar.

As a fan of the 1998 critically acclaimed anime series Cowboy Bebop; I was thrilled about the opportunity to review the TTRPG based on the show. A successful Kickstarter campaign preceded the release of this game, and Mana Project Studios raised over 500 thousand dollars for the project.
Dragonbane from Free League Publishing, is set for release later this year. I have already reviewed the Core Set of the Dragonbane TTRPG and gave it a huge recommendation. In that review, I left out details of the Adventure Book that comes with that box. I did this on purpose; because I wanted to give the Dragonbane TTRPG Adventure Book its own review. As the Game Master in our plays of Dragonbane I have no idea what it is like to play Dragonbane as a player. So, I collected feedback from my friends, so you can get a player’s point of view of this adventure.
When asked to review the Dragonbane TTRPG, I’m ashamed to admit I was a little disappointed. Another generic fantasy Dungeons and Dragons clone? Oh, the joy. All that anguish disappeared in a flash, once I began to browse the PDF. The image of a Darkwing Duck character leaping through the air, brandishing two mean-looking knives, was the first thing I saw. With that one image, Dragonbane had suckered me in. With my disappointment forgotten, I wasted no time in devouring the rule book. For this review, I only received the PDF version of the Core Set. So while I cannot review the physical version of the Dragonbane TTRPG, I can offer that this is a Free League Publishing product, and they are historically high quality in nature.
This review will cover both the Shire Adventures and the Rivendell Compendium. Upon release, The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying 5E will have 2 pieces of expansion content. Both of these expansions are available in the original game, The One Ring. This content, like the core rulebook, is a modification of the 5th edition DnD core rule set.
In 2021, Free League Publishing made Kickstarter history again. They raised over 2 million dollars to produce the second edition of The One Ring RPG. The game was a smashing success, beloved by Tolkien fans and RPG lovers alike. These fans were all of them deceived, for another game was made. In the land of Sweden, in the offices of Stockholm, Free League Publishing forged in secret a 5th edition game. And into this game, they poured the rules for DnD, their ambition, and their will to dominate all RPG tables. The Lord of the Rings 5E Roleplaying was born.
Free League Publishing released a new game module in early 2023 for Ruins of Symbaroum: The Call of the Dark expansion, set in the Kingdom of Ambria, and Retribution, set in the city of Kurun. This is a 94-page hardcover book designed by Mattias Johnsson Haake, Mattias Lilja, and Jacob Rodgers where the main theme revolves around Nature and its struggle with Civilization.
February 28th, 2023, saw the release of the IKHON expansion for the acclaimed TTRPG MÖRK BORG. If you don’t know what MÖRK BORG is let me be the first to tell you, it is not for the faint of heart. First released in 2020, MÖRK BORG burst its way onto the tabletop roleplaying scene and made a splash immediately. The game designers aim to provide a game that is light on rules but a brutal challenge in every other facet. The game’s core rules fit on one page and character creation should only take a few minutes. This is good because a few minutes is also the average life expectancy of your character. MÖRK BORG takes place in a dying world, where a two-headed Basilisk prophesied the end of the world is on its way. The world is now riddled with apocalyptic calamities for players to contend with. MÖRK BORG went on to win multiple awards at the ENNIES and even picked up silver for the game of the year.
Last fall Mana Project Studio and Don’t Panic Games introduced a crowdfunding campaign for their in-the-works roleplaying game based on the Cowboy Bebop anime. That campaign ended in November, but thanks to Backerkit, those who missed it now have a second chance. Most of the prizes offered in various tiers of the campaign are also available here, such as the GM screen, themed dice sets and playmats.
Mana Project Studio has traveled into the dark to illuminate you with the Nightfell D&D 5E TTRPG Setting, a grimdark Horror using the rules of the world’s most well-known game of heroes battling monsters. Gloom, death, and decay are apparent with every page turn, and the art is beautiful. Never before has a world of doomed fantasy felt so enticing; with a host of new options and a richly tailored game world, Nightfell beams in its execution.
