Official PlayStation Magazine UK had the opportunity to speak with Mark Lamia, the head of Treyarch studio. During their conversation, Lamia revealed new information regarding the zombies mode in this year’s upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. “Our zombies fans want more zombies,” he revealed somewhat unsurprisingly. Hang on though, he’s going somewhere with this. “They literally want more zombies and they want more ways to play” (see). That means Black Ops 2 will be expanding on what the previous games have done before with the undead. “They want bigger maps” says Lamia. “They want even more interesting things to do inside these levels. So we are crafting new worlds, creating new game modes and bigger worlds.” Much of what this new zombies will bring is partly due to an undead tech upgrade. “We’ve actually put [zombies] inside of our multiplayer engine and it’s capable of doing twice as many zombies, twice as many co-op players.” Eight player zombies is more than just a bigger set up, it’s changing

With the end of the year release of the new Call of Duty 9, which will most likely be subtitled Black Ops 2, one feature that keeps being stressed by fans for the new installment to have is dedicated servers. The first release of Black Ops had a huge problem with lag, which made gameplay extremely annoying. Gamers experienced stuttering, frame-delays, low frame-rates while in any session of multiplayer. Even after some bug fixes the problem really didn’t go away. The main reason for this issue was that Black Ops only currently supports P2P hosting. While peer-2-peer hosting seems to suffice for console gamers, this just isn’t the case for PC gamers. After Activision’s statement last month in February that there will be a new release of Call Of Duty, fans can have high hopes for some great possibilities of the game. After Activision’s purchase of the domain name blackops2.com back in January, it is highly likely that Call of Duty 9 will be subtitled Black Ops 2. One very high possibility, which was one of the most important features that fans are hoping for this new installment to have that was so popular in its predecessor, is the zombie mode. Leaks of the new multiplayer mode have now also surfaced, which was found on the official Black Ops forum. According to the information that was pulled later by Activision, Black Ops 2 will now have a new added game mode. The first evidence was that ad with the supposed Black Ops 2 release date of November 2012 that was seen on one of Amazon’s French websites, which of course was taken down. This came about after Joystiq, a highly credible video games news site, came across the resume of an employee by the name of Hugo Beyer having listed working on Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 with contract art studio Nerve Software. It’s expected that this year’s Call of Duty is Black Ops 2, and while it hasn’t been confirmed, at this point it’d be unreasonable to believe otherwise. The rumors online about the leaked release date for the next series installment of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 have hit the fan. Gamepur.com, apparently had taken a screen shot of the ad on a Spanish online retailer named Fnac, right before it was taken down. These rumors have then suggested that the date of November 12 would be without question, but have seemed to have misinterpreted the ad by a long shot. Despite the little amount of information on the screenshot taken, which is nothing but the new title and the supposed date of Activision’s next release, the November 12 date does bring up some questions. First of all, it is clear that on the ad that Gamepur.com pulled, the number 12 has an apostrophe right in front of it, which usually indicates the number after it, in this case ‘12 to be the year of release not a day of the month. This would also eliminate the confusion of Black Ops 2 being released on a Monday,

Call of Duty: Black Ops may be getting a sequel this year, if online retailer Amazon is to be believed. The site’s French arm put up a product page for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2,” before pulling the page down. That’s when things reportedly started to heat up between Activision and the French media. French site GameBlog (via GameSpot) reports that the after publishing news of the leaked site, Activision contacted the blog requesting the story be pulled. When GameBlog refused, Activision disinvited the site from a preview event for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and supposedly canceled advertising. This doesn’t confirm the news, of course. Still, a sequel to Black Ops certainly makes sense. Before the juggernaut that is Modern Warfare 3 trumped its early records, Black Ops was Activision’s most successful Call of Duty title. Looking to know if Black Ops 2 is coming next year? You’re not alone. David Vonderhaar, one of the Treyarch developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops, apologized for putting ‘Second Chance’ in the game. Don’t know what ‘Second Chance’ is? It’s simply a 3rd-tier multiplayer perk that allows players to use a pistol for ten seconds while downed before dying. The Pro version of ‘Second Chance’ allows an increased bleed out time (around 30 seconds) as well as an option for teammates to revive you. Vonderhaar recognized the fact that it’s a garbage perk to have in CoD Black Ops, and strongly suggests that Black Ops 2, will not have the ‘Second Chance’ perk. It’s refreshing to hear the developers own up to obvious flaws. This seems to suggest that Black Ops 2 is definitely on it’s way.

If you are patiently awaiting Black Ops 2, you might want to read this. You probably remember a few months ago when images of a Treyarch developer was playing a game called Iron Wolf. Well, we strongly believe that Iron Wolf is indeed the codename for the upcoming 2nd Black Ops. And while we do realize that Treyarch has a history of using a different name for each of their Call of Duty titles (Black Ops, World at War, Call of Duty 3), it would not make sense to carry on the Black Ops series given the circumstances of it’s tremendous success. Take the Modern Warfare series, for example. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was a smash hit, so Activision and Infinity Ward decided to develop Modern Warfare 2. And subsequently, Modern Warfare 3 was released two years later. It was a no-brainer.
