Underneath the ape makeup in this article’s cover photo is my newest interview subject, Matthew W. Mungle. Matthew is an acclaimed makeup artist who got his start helping a local movie theater in Atoka, Oklahoma promote their films by creating elaborate makeups. This would lead Matthew to a career in entertainment industry makeup that started in the 70s and is still going this day. Matthew would even win an Academy Award for Best Makeup for 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Near the end of October, I spoke to Matthew about his long and diverse career, and I hope you all enjoy getting to know this fantastic talent.
Gillian Anderson is pretty much done with The X-Files, even if creator Chris Carter never will be. She told the press last October she was retiring from playing Dana Scully in TV shows and movies, and she hasn’t changed her mind. “I’ve said from the beginning this is it for me,” she told TV Line. “I was a bit surprised by people’s [shocked] reaction to my announcement…because my understanding was that this was a single season.”
It remains to be seen if 24: Legacy and the Prison Break revival will stick (the ratings numbers say they won’t), but Fox’s X-Files is the show that wouldn’t die. The show returned with six new episodes last year, and it’s just been given ten more. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will once again be back in black, investigating dangerous otherworldly phenomena while an ad-libbed government conspiracy continues to retcon itself.
In case you did not know yet, classic and much beloved sci-fi TV series, The X-Files, is set to soon return to TV with a new season of episodes. The show has been off the air for over a decade, a second movie was released in 2008 with The X-Files: I Want to Believe. The FOX Network has released a first, 15-second teaser trailer for the upcoming new season of The X-Files. You can check out the video of the brief look at the show’s return below.
