NYCC 2017: The Unexpected Revealed
DC Comics current event, Metal, is a catalyst for many things. It’s bringing in both returning characters from DC Comics history, as well as Vertigo history, as well as putting new teams together. For example, at New York Comic Con, a new comic was revealed in the form of The Unexpected. This book will put a group of villains together in order to do something good. Like Suicide Squad, but without the bombs in their necks. The writer of the book, Steve Orlando had some interesting things to say about the book and the characters, reaffirming that they are: “a team of enemies that just happen to hate each other slightly less than anything else going on in this universe… These are all people who have made huge mistakes.” He added, “They’re all people who think they’ve done something unforgivable.” He also says the book is like “The Expendables meets The Dark Tower… or maybe more Seven Samurai meets The Dark Tower. It’s people coming together to overcome massive mistakes in their life, maybe things that even seem unforgivable.”
