You May Never See The Nevers, But You Can Try

HBO’s The Nevers has to be one of the unluckiest TV shows in recent memory, and definitive proof it’s impossible to predict how a Hollywood project will turn out. It premiered with great fanfare in early 2021. At this point series creator Joss Whedon was just starting to lose his sterling reputation, but he had bailed on the series mid-production anyway, so it didn’t seem like that connection would harm the show too much. Then the following sequence of events happened: HBO put the other half of Season 1 on hiatus for no clear reason; AT&T sold Warner Bros to Discovery; the head of Discovery went on a mindless massacre that included The Nevers in the pile of victims; and the six released episodes were taken off HBO Max with no indication they would reappear anywhere else OR that the unreleased six would ever publicly appear. HBO Max To Remove Westworld, Among Other Shows

To everyone who dismissed the anguish from animation fans over what HBO Max was doing last summer, and commented “they’ll never remove the important stuff, as in the stuff I personally care about”….how do you feel NOW? We warned you nothing was safe. Variety reports wicked emperor David Zaslav is about to remove the HBO hit Westworld from HBO Max, and of course the company won’t tell you when, just that it’s soon. Westworld was cancelled four months ago, a decision showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were notified about ahead of time. This allowed them to curtail their five-season story arc plan and condense it into the fourth season. However, it’s doubtful neither were aware Zaslav was going to yank access to the series entirely soon afterward, or they might not have worked as hard. Everything Coming To HBO Max In April

Godzilla Vs. Kong premieres in theaters and on HBO Max tomorrow, as you’ve likely heard. One day after that will be the beginning of April, and the streamer has plenty in store for the next 30 days. Another movie, for one. A little over two weeks after Godzilla Vs. Kong, WB will release the latest attempt at a Mortal Kombat movie. WB gained the Mortal Kombat characters when they bought the studio that made them to create WB Games, and over the past few years they’ve been milking the IP for all it’s worth. Official word is they won’t shy away from the trademark ultra-violence and crazy fatalities of the games, and the R rating reflects this. But you played Mortal Kombat as a kid and you turned out fine, right? …..Right? Joss Whedon’s The Nevers Revealed In Full Frilly Glory

After a detour into superhero movies, some better than others, Joss Whedon has returned to the medium where he’s found the most success — television — with HBO’s The Nevers, premiering in two months. It covers familiar ground for Joss — young women with supernatural powers — but there are a couple of new twists thrown in. The first trailer was released today. While we’ve known The Nevers is coming for quite some time, there are a couple of things this trailer revealed that are news to us….first off, it’s set in Victorian England, with all the frilly fans and tight corsets one would expect. Maybe that was revealed earlier and we just weren’t paying attention. Either way, there will be gaslamps and stuffy accents aplenty. There’s even a touch of steampunk — we spotted some out-there mechanical gizmos being used in a couple of scenes. The second revelation: The Nevers is just six episodes long. Is it just a miniseries or is that the length of the first season?
