The Last Of Us 2: Ellie’s Got A Tattoo

When you saw Naughty Dog’s first trailer for The Last Of Us 2 over the weekend, did you notice Ellie has had some ink done? The now 19-year-old protagonist sported a tattoo on her right arm as she was strumming the guitar. The tattoo was spotted by some viewers and requests were made to the studio to release the design. They did so on their Twitter account today…. Two ferns and a moth. Whether that means anything in the game remains to be revealed. But the process of how they got it on Ellie is quite unusual. Instead of simply texture-mapping it, they drew the tattoo with a Sharpie onto the arm of game designer Alexandria Neonakis, and then digitized her entire arm. “Natalie designed Ellie’s tattoo and also ended up being her hand model,” says game director Neil Druckmann. “[She] went through an intense, brand-new hand scanning process.” And this is what the tattoo looks like on Ellie. Last Of Us Part 2 Announced At PSX

At the PlayStation Experience today, Sony announced a sequel to the beloved game The Last Of Us. Titled simply The Last Of Us Part 2, the game will once again feature main characters Joel and Ellie. However, they will be older than they were in the first game. Along with a reveal trailer, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann went to the PlayStation Blog to note that this game was anything but a certainty, and that it literally took years to capture a story that felt true to what they had done with the original: “I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to finally be able to say that Ellie and Joel are back for another intense, harrowing, and emotional adventure.
