The Great Muppet Caper Will Return To Theaters Next Week
Normally the Fathom Events we call attention to are US releases of anime films, but I don’t think anyone will mind if we make an exception with this one. Forty years ago the Muppets were at their popular and creative peak, and Henson and pals introduced the sequel to Kermit’s 1979 big-screen debut in response….The Great Muppet Caper. While the Muppets are visiting London, Lady Holiday’s jewels have been stolen. Miss Piggy is framed as the culprit, and that leaves Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie and the others with the task of sniffing out the real thief and busting her from prison. Yes, this movie’s on Disney+, but you only get one chance to see it this big, unless your TV is two stories tall. The Great Muppet Caper will be screened over two nights, in dub and sub form (wait, never mind, that doesn’t make sense). You can catch it on the evenings of August 8 and August 11; check the listings on Fathom’s website for the showing nearest you. Stop
