The Gifted Creator Teases “A Battle Is Coming” With Season 02

There was a lot of doubt that The Gifted would be given the viewership and time it deserves during its inaugural season, especially since the show doesn’t feature any “major” X-Men or Brother mutants. Yet, the show made due, and made quite an impact in its 13-episode season, which ended tonight. The two-part finale did many things, including pulling a classic X-Men move of dividing the Mutant Underground into two units. One who would fight by the guidelines of the X-Men (no killing, fight for hope and peace), and those who would follow the guidelines of the Brotherhood and the Hellfire Club (mutant freedom at all costs). NYCC 2017: Polaris Has Bipolar Disorder In The Gifted

One of the hardest things to do in comic book adaptations is be 100% faithful to the source material. They try to do that, but some things are better left on the comic book pages, while others are easily incorporated. For the new show The Gifted, they pull from a lot of aspects of the X-Men universe. And though they have their own twists on things (see: Spider Sentinels) they are staying faithful to the character origins of established characters. For example, Polaris is one of the Mutant Underground, and has already been confirmed to be a child of Magneto. However, the other key part of her comic character is that she has Bipolar Disorder, and actress Emma Dumont confirmed that this is a part of the show: “100% that’s something we’re already doing. You’re totally correct, she has bipolar disorder. She’s unmedicated, she’s not being treated for it, I don’t even know if in our show she knows she has it — but she definitely does. She has major

Check Out The Promo For The Gifted’s Next Episode

The Gifted officially premiered on Fox last night, and if the pilot is any indication of what to expect, the show has a lot of promise and potential. Set in a world where the X-Men and Brotherhood are presumed missing (even the mutants don’t know where they are) and the human race is rallying against them by incarcerating them via a government agency known as the Sentinel Service, things are very dark. Especially when a seemingly ordinary family finds out two of their kids are mutants. The first episode, eXposure, did a wonderful job of setting up the world, and the players within it both human and mutant. And next week the fun continues with its second episode, rX. A season preview was shown at the end of the pilot but a smaller promo for the second episode has been released. SDCC 2017: The Gifted Gets New Trailer

The Gifted is another take on the X-Men universe, but as was revealed earlier, it’s one that doesn’t take place in the exact timeline of the movies, it’s instead something else. For in this world, mutants are hunted openly, and both the X-Men and the Brotherhood aren’t around, or at least, people don’t know where they are. Cells of mutants are trying to survive, and when one family finds out two of their children are mutants, they must come together with others to protect them, to run, to hide, and to survive. SDCC 2017: X-Men Show “The Gifted” In Different Timeline

This fall, the X-Men will get a second series on television. The first was Legion, but now, The Gifted are going to focus on a new set of mutants mixed with some classics from the comic book series, and at San Diego Comic Con, we got some interesting tidbits about the series and what it’s going to be, and not be. For example, series writer Matt Nix noted that in this series, the X-Men aren’t in the public eye. “Right now, one of the things that comes out in the show is the X-Men are gone,” said Nix. “Why are the X-Men gone? That is a thing in the show. It’s not just that they’re too expensive for television!” Now, that’s not to say that past members of the X-Men from the comics won’t show up, because that is going to happen.
