Kid Flash Is Departing Legends, The Flash And Everything Else

When Legends of Tomorrow returns for its fourth season this fall, Kid Flash won’t be one of the characters on it — despite his migration from The Flash to Legends being set up this previous season. In fact, he won’t be on The Flash either, nor Arrow or anywhere else. And the reason for this is because his actor, Keiynan Lonsdale, has decided to take a break. When the original actress for Vixen wasn’t available for Legends, they solved the issue by pulling in a Vixen from a different time period. But there’s only one Wally West, unfortunately. Why is Lonsdale exiting? This is what he posted to social media (repost via iO9): Yo! Soo as a lot of you have now read, I’m not returning next season as a series regular for The Flash or Legends. It’s definitely not a total goodbye or “see ya never” situation, cause Wally West will still be round when you need him the most! It’s just that it won’t be full time anymore.

A week ago we reported that the producers of Legends of Tomorrow wanted to put Constantine in every episode next season, but that depended on there being a next season. In fact, none of the network’s shows had gotten word of a fall renewal yet and it was already April. Typical for any other network, but unusual for The CW. Maybe the envelope got lost in the mail, but it’s been found now. The CW confirmed today its entire superhero lineup — Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and NEW Black Lightning — has been renewed for the 2018-2019 season. That’s at least 22 (in some cases 18) more episodes of Kara’s sunny personality, Cisco’s kitschy T-shirts, and the sheer concentrated candy rush that is Legends. As is tradition now, the DC Comics show on the CW will be hitting their fall finales/mid-season finales in a few weeks. We’re basically a month into the new seasons of the DC Comics/CW shows, but it appears that some of them are already planning for next season. We already knew that Arrow had already planned for Season 07, but now it seems that The Flash is catching up to them in that regard. How so? Last week we learned Barry Allen and Iris West would finally get married in the upcoming season of The Flash, but we knew not of when the blessed event would occur. Now we have the answer — their wedding ceremony is the centerpiece of the Super Duper Superhero Crossover Special this November. It’s titled “Crisis On Earth-X,” and it would appear to be based on Crisis On Infinite Earths in title only — the crisis involves only one Earth, and it happens to be one where all the superheroes are evil. Now they’ve come to our dimension to crash the wedding, ’cause that’s what bad guys do! Presumably there’s more to their plan than that, but we only just found out about it today. The Flash had an amazing first season, then Season 02 had its ups and downs, and many consider Season 03 to be a waste of potential, especially with the Flashpoint storyline and the bringing in of Kid Flash. One of the things that made seasons 02 and 03 so divisive was that the main villains were speedsters. Zoom and Savitar had to live up to the legacy of Reverse Flash, and they honestly couldn’t do it. So with Season 04, there won’t be a speedster villain, instead, it’ll be a genius one. Another director has parted ways with a high-profile comic book, superhero movie project. Last week, it was Tim Miller leaving Deadpool 2. This week, Variety reports that director Rick Famuyiwa is leaving Warner Bros. and DC’s upcoming adaptation of The Flash. According to the report, Famuyiwa left the project due to creative differences. Similar issues previously came up with Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren regarding the Wonder Woman film. She was later replaced by Patty Jenkins, and the film was able to move into production was scheduled. Famuyiwa is the second director to leave The Flash. Writer Seth Grahame-Smith was originally set to make his directorial debut, but he ultimately parted ways with the film. However, it’s set to still use the script he wrote for the film. Warner Bros. hopes to have another director in line to replace Famuyiwa soon, but that remains to be seen.
