It seems Gearbox and Sega have decided to give every Aliens fan out there an early Christmas present in to form of a bunch of new Colonial Marines footage and info! Speaking personally as a fan who has been waiting his whole life for an Aliens experience like this one, February simply can’t come quickly enough. Lets just hope the impending apocalypse doesn’t get in the way! httpv://youtu.be/BNXF40SdJow httpv://youtu.be/gHTWnmIfb9Q httpv://youtu.be/3R8rek4WU1s
Developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda, few people knew what to expect from Dishonored. Was it a stealthy action game? Did it feature an open world? With Bethesda in the mix there were even questions as to its technical quality and just how much of a hand the giant publisher had in its creation and development. Thankfully for us, most of these questions have been answered with Dishonored’s release and I’m here to say that overall it’s a fantastic game.
Well this almost makes sitting through the Spike’s video game award show worthwhile. Emphasis on the almost. According to an official press release, Dark Souls 2 is being developed for PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC so nobody need make any petitions at this time. Details are scarce, but there are a few miniscule tidbits in both the announcement trailer and the press release.
“Dark Souls II retains the core essence of Dark Souls while evolving to present new twists and challenges that are sure to please longtime fans and attract new comers to the series,” says Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing at NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. “FromSoftware is going to take a very dark path with Dark Souls II; players will need to look deep within themselves to see if they have the intestinal fortitude to embark on this journey.”
Sounds good to me. Check out the trailer below.
The original Borderlands was a pretty unique concept brought to market by developer Gearbox, a loot loaded RPG with shooter gameplay wrapped in a cartoonish presentation. Borderlands sold well and received fantastic support through DLC, but the formula clearly had room for improvement. Fast forward to 2012 and few games this year have garnered as much hype and interest as Borderlands 2, but now that its been released does the finished product validate all those high expectations? Hell yes it does! Right at the start of Borderlands 2 you’re thrown back onto the harsh world of Pandora, but there have been some changes since our last visit. First of all the game features 4 brand new characters in the starring role: the badass gunzerker Salvador, powerful siren Maya, stalwart grunt Axton and the stealthy Zer0. All of these new characters bring their own strengths to the battlefield and, if new antagonist Handsome Jack has anything to say, they’re going to need every ability they can muster to survive. You see ever since
Finally we get a real look at what we can expect from the upcoming Zombies game mode that’ll ship with Black Ops 2. We already know that Zombies will now support up to 8 players and twice as many shambling undead on screen at once. It also appears that Zombies has at least one game mode where you’ll actually be able to move between maps from location to location and there might even be a sort of win state if you can complete them all. Either way, I’m excited. Check it out below. httpv://youtu.be/2VhbEvRGAGY
Here we have a nifty little video featuring the developers behind Dishonored talking about the darkly unique world they’ve put together for us. It’s a world full of intrigue, backdoor politics, plague, violence, oppression and magical assassins. So naturally Dishonored is shaping up to be one of the most interesting games of the year and, with any luck, could be something really special. Check out the video below and let us know what you think in the comments section below. httpv://youtu.be/zs4nCzAUQV4
Here we have a nifty CGI Trailer for Dishonored showing off some of the story and slightly embellished gameplay. It looks pretty great. I think it’ll be a surprise hit with a lot of gamers in a year of huge sequels. Check out the trailer below. httpv://youtu.be/E1HlYTukh9A
The original Darksiders, released back in 2010, was an eclectic blend of everything from God of War to Portal. While Darksider’s story, setting and presentation were all top notch, many of the basic gameplay elements felt somewhat parred down in comparison to its many inspirations. So after plenty of hype and lots of media attention, does Darksiders 2 manage to rise above its predecessor to carve out its own identity? Definitely.
Hey, do you remember Starhawk? That game that came out in May that was totally awesome but received little support from its dev or community? Well, here’s something to make it worth checking out again – Starhawk’s first map pack, available entirely free from the PlayStation Store.
Here you’ll find an informative little trailer from Vigil and Prima Games explaining how the loot system in Darksiders 2 operates. It’s a great feature to add to a game like this, and should make every kill and dungeon delve feel more than worthwhile. I especially like how possessed weapons get stronger by feeding them the power of other, lesser weapons. Pretty cool stuff. Check the trailer out below. httpv://youtu.be/u7cXSP6Mixo
Right on schedule is the long awaited Multiplayer Reveal trailer for Black Ops 2. The game looks as slick and fast paced as ever but, dare I say, I’m far more interested in the campaign this time around. I’ve bashed CoD for quite some time now for its unwillingness to change, but given the new time period, writer, non-linear campaign and body jumping RTS missions, I think I’ll be giving it a shot again this year. Anyways, check out the trailer below and give us your thoughts on it. One way or another, I’m sure it’ll be an interesting conversation. httpv://youtu.be/Dre21lBu2zU [signoff1]
In this latest trailer for Gearbox’s love letter to James Cameron is plenty of info on both the Marines and Aliens. We see plenty of great multiplayer shots and even some concept art of brand new Xenos. If you watch carefully you may even spot an acid spitting variant with a cool looking head crest. Check out the trailer below. httpv://youtu.be/pVkhNpo2pmU
