Several months ago, Super Smash Bros. boss Masahiro Sakurai promised the first Smash fighter in the second DLC pack would be from the Switch game ARMS….but he never elaborated beyond that. Months of speculation later, the fighter was revealed at 7 AM this morning as….Min Min, the ramen-themed one.

If you’re a die-hard Fire Emblem fan, no doubt you were over the moon to hear that the fifth and final Smash Bros fighter of DLC Pack 1 will be Byleth, the latest protagonist from the series. Byleth was introduced last summer in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but a solid chunk of Smash’s fanbase didn’t know that. Instead they saw yet another sword fighter with a weird name and became enraged.
You can sort of play Smash Bros Ultimate in VR as of today…but only a small portion of the game. With the latest update, Nintendo added VR Toy-Con support…..so you would need those cardboard glasses to slip the Switch into. Said support amounts to single-player, limited and timed offline matches — can’t go online with it.
No one outside Nintendo knows which characters will be added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate in the next few months. Shortly before the game’s release Piranha Plant was revealed as the first DLC character, to be followed by five more. During the Game Awards last month, Joker from the Persona series was announced as the second. Who are the remaining four?
While the Direct was delayed a week due to the earthquake in Hokkaido, it was shown on September 13th. This Direct was focused on major titles with only a few mentions of Smash Bros Ultimate. They gave focus on the 3DS and Switch. This is the overview of the Nintendo Direct.
For those of you wondering if there would be Smash Bros Ultimate amiibo, the answer is “yes.” Nintendo’s Japanese website confirmed that new amiibo would be out upon the release of the game. Nintendo had confirmed previously that amiibo would still be a part of Smash Bros Ultimate and that all previous amiibo would work with the Switch game.
