If the Dark Souls series is tough enough as a video game, imagine it as a tabletop RPG. That’s what Steamforged Games has promised to bring to life in the spring of 2024. The Dark Souls Roleplaying Game is on the way and preorders were made open today.
Monster Hunter is one of Capcom’s most successful modern-day series, and since monsters have been a common element of tabletop games since they were first invented, someone figured “why not marry the two.” A board game version of Monster Hunter World was introduced from Steamforged Games in 2021 and the response was enthusiastic — the Kickstarter earned over three million dollars. Something that successful usually gets an inevitable follow-up, so here we are.
Steamforged Games is back — they’re the folks behind the tabletop game translations of Dark Souls, Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter: World, as well as a few original creations. One of those original games, Euthia, was sold a long time ago as an exclusively crowdfunded product and has not been made available anywhere since — until now.
Steamforged Games, creators (somehow) of a Dark Souls board game among other things, have revealed their latest product….Epic Encounters: Local Legends, an add-on for any 5E-compatible campaign that’s specifically devoted to creating impressive taverns.
On October 26, Steamforged Games launched the crowdfunding campaign for an officially licensed Resident Evil board game. We can safely call the product a hit now — it broke the million-dollar barrier yesterday and, with six days remaining in its campaign, could go far higher.
Steamforged Games is the world-famous translator of video games into tabletop versions…previous products of theirs include board games based on Dark Souls, Resident Evil 2, Horizon Zero Dawn and Devil May Cry. Next year, you’ll be able to add Monster Hunter World to the list….the board game was announced this morning.
