As anyone who’s seen The Last Jedi knows, Carrie Fisher was set to play a major role throughout the entire trilogy as General Leia. After Star Wars Episode IX comes out during the 2019 holiday season, the arc that began with the original 1977 film (or, for the picky, Phantom Menace) will come to a definitive end. That means whatever comes afterward will start a whole new story in a whole new section of the universe. The possibilities are endless and exciting — and potentially nerve-wracking given how much is riding on it. Disney gave the keys to this new kingdom to Rian Johnson, which is fitting given how mercilessly his Episode XIII smashed up longstanding tropes (to my glee, bot others’ misery). Star Wars gets a new game announcement and updates on upcoming DLC Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been out for seven months there has been announcements of DLC coming to the game. At launch the game caused massive amounts of controversy with their loot box system with prizes including weapons and items that can skew a match. As of late in an update they changed the content of these boxes to only be credits and cosmetics. However the damage has already been done to the game due to lack of timely action to fix the issue and disrespect towards fans in a Q&A. Now Doctor Aphra Is A Physical Object

One of the nice things about the New, Rebooted Star Wars Extended Universe is that writers are finally free to experiment with new characters, or new backstories for old characters. Doctor Aphra probably wouldn’t exist otherwise. Invented during Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca’s run on the Darth Vader comic book in 2016, Aphra was introduced as an assistant to Lord Vader and came with two droids much like C3PO and R2-D2 only frequently sociopathic. Doctor Aphra eventually betrayed her master and fled, along with the droids, into her own spinoff comic book — which, unlike Darth Vader, is still going to this day. The fact that an original creation like Aphra can support her own ongoing book in such a tough market, while Vader himself cannot, should tell you something. Aphra is awesome. On the occasion of the release of Solo, Mark Hamill sent out a tweet this afternoon revealing four early Star Wars posters, cooked up by the marketing team back when they were still trying to figure out how to sell Lucas’s now-iconic creation to an audience that had never seen it before. Coming up with the perfect tagline is hard — just look at how many would-be catchphrases the Alien team had to go through before they finally found “In space no one can hear you scream.” Hamill mentions in the tweet that he had trouble describing Star Wars to his friends before the movie came out. Hasbro has held the Star Wars license for a long time, longer if you count its years under Kenner (whom Hasbro bought out). In February Hasbro launched Haslab, their own personal crowdfunding site where they’ll promise to make ridiculously decadent collector’s items only if enough people pledge to buy them. The first item: a recreation of Jabba’s Sail Barge that promised to be the biggest-sized Star Wars vehicle they had ever created. The Sail Barge measures 49 inches long…the previous record holder, the Millennium Falcon toy, measures 31 inches long (if you never owned one, then you’re probably familiar with its existence through nostalgic media like Stranger Things). Hasbro would only make this toy if 5,000 people committed their wallets….and at $500 apiece, they would need a lot of crazy collectors. As of today, it looks like they found them.
