As we draw ever closer to Christmas, we get ever closer to the arrival of Star Wars Episode VIII, and through the wait, we get closer to getting new details on just what might happen in it. One of the biggest questions coming out of Episode VII was about how the former Stormtrooper known as Finn would affect events after his injury and defecting from the First Order. Turns out, he’s a “big deal”. Or at least, that’s what his actor John Boyega has said to Entertainment Weekly:

2017 will see the release of another new Star Wars movie. This one will be Star Wars: Episode VIII, which will be the latest chapter in what Lucasfilm calls the “Skywalker Saga.” However, today Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios finally revealed the actual title for Star Wars: Episode VIII. There was a lot of world re-building in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, as it resetup the galaxy far, far, away, and introduced us to the next generation that’s living in it, as well as what happened between then and Return of the Jedi. For many though, the ending scene truly gave us something special.
Apparently, Rian Johnson’s script is so good for the next planned installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, which will be Star Wars: Episode VIII, that Abrams actually regrets that he will not be able to write and direct the film. This is the case according to Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor Greg Grunberg, who is also a longtime friend and collaborator with Abrams. He informed The Washington Post that the script for the next film is so good, he wishes he could have written it as well.
Actor Benicio Del Toro has revealed some more details on his upcoming role in the new Star Wars sequel, Star Wars: Episode VIII. The new film will be written and directed by Rian Johnson (Looper). It will probably come as no surprise that Benicio Del Toro will be playing a villain in the story, at least according to his own statements. In an interview with the Spanish website rac1.org, Del Toro revealed: “Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March. I’m like the villain, but we’ll see.”
