Earlier this year, Skybound Games announced a deal with PC game developer Beamdog to port its library of classic D&D-based RPGs to home consoles. Today the fruits of their labor are for sale: Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate ll, Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment and Neverwinter Nights. Many of these will be new to console gamers, and if so, they’re in for a treat. Some of the most beloved D&D-branded video games are heading to a new audience this fall as Skybound Games and Beamdog prepare packaged deluxe editions of Baldur’s Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights for a rerelease on new consoles. These rereleases are for the most part the games you remember, but enhanced with high resolution support, new standalone content, new characters and classes, new voice sets, expanded character creation options, improved multiplayer functionality, and redesigns of the user interface. Today is the day some thought would never come: the day Telltale’s The Walking Dead becomes a complete, finished product with a definitive ending. If you need an explanation why, Telltale Games’ adaption of the Walking Dead comic book hasn’t had the smoothest development ride — it had to survive no less than the complete destruction of its developer.
