We’ve gone many months without a single word from Captain Marvel, the next MCU flick (even Comic-Con gave us nothing). That changed today when Entertainment Weekly dumped several watermarked images straight from the reels. Let’s check ’em out and see what we can learn.
Ok, so by this point and time you should know that the Marvel Comics films rights are divided up between three studios. Marvel Studios has the majority, Sony owns Spider-Man and his characters, and Fox has the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Because of that, certain characters can’t be used by other studios. There are some loopholes though, and one of them may be the Skrulls. The shapeshifting aliens were already confirmed for Captain Marvel, but now, rumors are saying that X-Men: Dark Phoenix could have them too.
At the Marvel Studios Panel at San Diego Comic Con, many details were shown off for the highly anticipated Captain Marvel film. But two bits of information stood out above all. One, the antagonists would be the infamous Skrulls. And two, the film is set in the 90’s, long before the Avengers were even a spoken word.
