Ted is a prequel of the hit comedy series of the same name. Seth McFarlane will reprise his role as the Vulgar drug addicted Teddy Bear that came to life. Mark Wahlberg will not be reprising his role as John Bennett because  it the series will focus on the character’s teenage life. So Max Burkholder will be taking over the role.  It will be set in the 90s and we will see the early days of this perverted Teddy Bear and his dorky human best friend. A fair warning for some parents, this show is not for kids. The original film made  $549,368,315 in the box office worldwide. The sequel Ted 2, Made $215,863,606, not as big but succesful enough to get a cult following. There some fans who hoped for a Ted 3 but it never happen. The plot of Seth MacFarlane’s movie Ted was basically a deconstruction of your typical children’s fairy tale story: a little boy wishes for his teddy bear to come to life, and it does, and the story usually ends there. Instead, Ted takes place many years after the fact, when John and his bear have both become burnout losers in their late 30s. Cue the jokes. (I won’t be commenting on the movie’s quality or lack thereof as I’ve never seen it.) But Ted’s not dead: after a sequel failed to generate enough interest, the crude fuzzy thing has found another way to survive. Seth is now working on a Ted TV series for Peacock, set as a prequel. The show will take place in 1993 with a sixteen-year-old John, just now beginning to realize Ted won’t make the rest of his life a breeze. There seems to be a competition between Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville and Stranger Things to see who can take the longest to produce a new season. Until today, Stranger Things was on track to win that race, but The Orville just pulled ahead with a freshly announced delay that will push the premiere of Season 3 three months later. It was going to finally show up March 10. Now it won’t be ready until June 2. “As occasionally happens, our show has been repositioned amidst the ever-changing television schedule landscape, which means that the wait will be just a bit longer,” MacFarlane said in a public apology. “We understand your frustration…so we want to give you a little taste of what’s to come.” This makes it sound more like the delay was more Hulu’s decision than his. Today at The Orville’s SDCC panel, creator and star Seth MacFarlane dropped the bomb that the series would not run on Fox for its third season. Instead, the show will become a Hulu original. Wha?
