Ride of die: Live action adaptation of the Manga Gunjō
After the failure of that live-action Death Note film that is a victim of bad script and white washing. Netflix had been doing a lot of great live-action adaptations of Mangas and webtoons lately. One key component of the success if they use actors of the country origin of the source materials instead of forcing it as a Hollywood flick. Not westernizing the story gives a feeling of authenticity. This April 15, 2021, Netflix will release the live-action adaptation of the 2007 Yuri Manga, Gunjō. Yuri is a Manga genre in Japan that focuses on gay female perspective. Most Yuri titles focuses with teenage girls but this one focused with a pair of adult women. It is written by the Mangaka Ching Nakamura. It will go for the title Ride or Die. Gunjō runs from 2007 and the manga concluded in 2012. I believe a TV series adaptation would have been more fitting but this film adaptation does have potential. Nanae and Rei from the Manga version of Gunjō Netflix
