On-Gaku: Our Sound Comes To Theaters December 11
GKids is bringing a unique anime film to US audiences this December — On-Gaku: Our Sound. It’s a slacker buddy comedy like you’ve never seen the genre: animated in a minimal Japanese style. Three bored teenagers decide to form a rock band, not because they believe they can make it, even or fake it, but just because it’s something to do. It also might impress their friend Ava, so that’s something. But while they’re half-heartedly pursuing their half-interest, another delinquent gang is giving them trouble. Is music the answer? When we say On-Gaku: Our Sound is unique, we mean it. It could only come from one man, because it did. Kenji Iwaisawa not only directed the film, but animated nearly every scene himself. Maybe he and Bill Plympton could compare notes sometime.
