Crunchyroll has a lot planned for NYCC next month, but perhaps nothing larger than this: they’ve announced the screening of an all-new, never before seen episode from My Hero Academia Season 6. NYCC attendees will be the first to see it…no one in Japan has yet.
Crunchyroll announced its slate of releases for the holiday season today, and headlining them is the disc release of My Hero Academia’s latest half-season.
What attractions will there be at New York Comic-Con this October? Will the strike finally be over by that point? HAHAHA, unlikely. What isn’t currently experiencing stalled contract negotiations is the anime industry, so you can at least count on Crunchyroll. The distributor revealed today their full list of panels they have scheduled for NYCC.

Crunchyroll proclaimed a lot of big announcements during their industry panel at Anime Expo this weekend, including the long-awaited second season of Goblin Slayer. They wouldn’t commit to a date for that one, but it’s expected before 2023 is through. They have acquired eight other series for US distribution as well:

Remember when anime based on the most popular manga stayed in production constantly and just created endless, barely canon filler episodes while they waited for the manga writers to catch up? They don’t really do that anymore (except with already established, long-running things like One Piece). If My Hero Academia had become popular in the 2000s instead of now, we’d no doubt be waist deep in a months-long arc about Deku fighting some weird misshapen villain an anime worker drew on the back of a napkin.
Spend a summer evening with some old friends from Class 1-A as Crunchyroll brings two brand-new My Hero Academia OVAs to the West. They’ll both arrive on the service the same day, this coming Monday.
