Bandai Namco Announces New Gundam Mobile Game

Bandai Namco, holders of the Gundam license, are once again publishing another mobile game based around it. MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM U.C. ENGAGE is already out in Japan and has racked up 2.5 million downloads there; the English version was confirmed today for Apple and Android devices. Mobile Suit Gundam UC Engage is a war / strategy title that features six-vs-six conflicts, 3D mobile suit models and characters from across the Gundam universe. Characters from over 30 years of anime history will appear together in the same place. Mobile Suit Gundam Cucuruz Doan’s Island Comes To Theaters Later This Month

In 1979 the original Mobile Suit Gundam series hit Japanese televisions and influenced a generation. The program was so successful that it spawned countless imitators and, for a while there, “anime” was synoymous with “giant robots” for at least ten years. There isn’t quite as much mecha anime anymore as there was during the genre’s 80s peak, but the brand that started it all is still going strong, and its latest feature has been announced for a Western release. Mobile Suit Gundam Cucuruz Doan’s Island is a remake-slash-expansion of the 15th episode of the original series. Gundam 40th Anniversary Celebration: Char’s Counterattack Screens December 5

Yeesh, Gundam is 40…where did the time go? Sunrise and Fathom Events will be teaming up to celebrate the birthday of the giant robot mech franchise this December. For one night only, you’ll be able to catch Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack in theaters. Char’s Counterattack, originally released in 1988, was the first Mobile Suit Gundam theatrical movie.
