NBC’s Midnight Texas Looks Nuts
The National Broadcasting Company has begun running promos for some new show called Chicago Texas. Wait, I got the title wrong, but can you blame me? The show is actually called Midnight Texas. Based on a trilogy of books written by supermarket novelist Charlaine Harris, Midnight Texas is one of those places everybody goes who’s too weird to fit into normal society. Our crazily-coiffed protagonist, Manifred, possesses psychic powers and has regular conversations with ghosts. He joins a community made up of a witch named Fiji, a vampire named Lem, a werewolf named The Rev (who apparently changes into a tiger, NOT a wolf) and an angel named….um, Joe. We get a brief clip of Joe’s actor running around with prosthetic wings and he looks hilarious. This show was announced by NBC at their Upfronts nearly a year ago, and they’ve finally made room on their schedule for it….in the middle of the summer. Make your own conclusions about its quality there. No one’s expecting brilliance from Midnight Texas. But
