Sega Announces An Open Mod Kit For…Genesis Games?
To date, Sega has rereleased around 50 Genesis (or Mega Drive, if you lived anywhere else but North America) games on Steam. Now they’re about to introduce a new hub centered around those games. This trailer suggests it’ll be called Mega Drive Classics, but don’t be surprised if there’s a name change for Yanks. Sega says the hub will be free of charge as long as you own at least one Steam Genesis game. Simply update the game when the feature goes live to get the feature. It’s described as a 3D representation of a 90s Sega fan’s bedroom, “with dynamic time-of-day conditions, retro Sega paraphernalia, a shelf full of Mega Drive games.” Don’t forget a CRT television to virtually play those games on — but you can still play them without retro “effects.” But the most interesting part about all this is what I suggested in the title.
