You’ll want to get out of your chair for this one: Suzume, Makoto Shinkai’s latest anime feature film, now has a date for its own physical Blu-Ray release. Crunchyroll made the announcement this morning.
Japanese filmmaker Makoto Shinkai has rocketed to anime stardom in recent years thanks to being the director of Your Name and the films after it (like that one about the guy who turns into a chair). But his career actually stretches back farther than that, and a new one-day pop-up exhibit arranged by Crunchyroll will display the man’s full filmography.
If you missed Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume when it first appeared in theaters last spring, you’ve been gifted a second chance. The film has returned to US screens this weekend. For those who forgot, Makoto Shinkai is the guy who made “Your Name.” And for those who forgot what Suzume is, it’s the talking chair movie.
We have a US release date for Suzume! The third film from mega-successful director Makoto Shinkai (Your Name, Weathering With You) is almost here, and it will play in theaters across the US this spring. Distributor Crunchyroll confirmed the news today.
We’ve reported several times by now on Suzume, the upcoming third animated movie from Makoto Shinkai (the one behind Your Name, the most successful anime movie of all time). Details were kept vague, but the story seemed solid enough. There was one detail, however, that Sinkai was purposely leaving out. Today the newest trailer was released and we now know the truth. This story has an element that’s, uh, interesting.
