One of the things that separate Luke Cage from the other Marvel/Netflix shows is that by the end of the season, everyone knew who Luke Cage was both in name and in face. With him coming back to the world via Defenders, and then Luke Cage Season 02, his identity will be even more exposed. Which as actor Mike Colter reveals will be a big part of his characters story going forward: “It’s something that we’ll explore in the Defenders and hopefully in Season 2 of Cage which I start very soon,” Colter explained to MCU Exchange. “It’s very different. He’s out. People know what he looks like. He’s not in any kind of disguise. People know where he lives. They know where to find him so its something he has to deal with. With the recent reveal of the first Defenders trailer, Marvel is getting the hype train started for their next great hero team-up. This one featuring the four main heroes of the Marvel/Netflix world, mainly Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. But a mystery that is slowly growing is about the villains of the piece. Because though we know that Sigourney Weaver will be playing the lead villain known as Alexandra, and that Elektra will be involved too, we don’t know how it’ll tie together. Marvel and Netflix announced today Luke Cage has been renewed for a second season. As is the custom, they brought the news via a simple video clip on Twitter, this one being Luke’s home and base of operations, Pop’s Barber Shop. It’s been destroyed numerous times of course, but like Luke himself, it’s resilient. The video clip featured a light popping up saying, “Season 2 Coming Soon.” As for when exactly this season will become available, no one knows, but you shouldn’t bet on it happening anytime soon. Because there are four Marvel Netflix shows in existence (plus The Defenders) and only two slots available per year for those shows, Netflix has to juggle them. The second season of Jessica Jones was announced shortly after the first, and it won’t truly arrive on Netflix until the year 2018. We may have to wait even longer for Luke Cage to return. Everything we know so far about Marvel’s The Defenders sounds great. We know that all the superheroes introduced in their respective series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the upcoming Iron Fist) will meet and team up against a solitary threat. Despite being set in the same universe technically, the Marvel films and the Marvel/Netflix Collaborations have a clear divide between them. The arrival for Luke Cage is almost here. The final countdown for the launch of the show’s first season begins now. He shows off his famous portrait of Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious B.I.G. as he’s beating up a victim in his office. Marvel Studios and Netflix dropped the latest full trailer for the upcoming Luke Cage TV series online today. It features a great deal of new footage, and you can check it out in the player below. After making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage now steps up to the plate with his very own series debuting next month. The new trailer gives viewers their first look at the MCU origin of Luke Cage. Interestingly enough, that clip had some visual references to Luke Cage’s old-school costume from the 1970s. It appears that will be the only visual homage to the classic costume.
