Pac-Man restaurant coming to Chicago
If you’ve ever wondered what a Power Pellet tastes like, and who hasn’t, your best shot at finding out may be coming to Chicago soon. Namco Entertainment has leased a 40,000 square foot facility, formerly occupied by a Sears, in Woodfield Mall located in the Chicagoland area. The future eatery will go by the name “Level 257,” in reference to the Pac-Man arcade game’s defacto final level, the famous kill screen. Says Namco, “Level 257 seeks to explore Pac-Man’s impact upon our society and pop culture, reminding us all of the importance of play in our lives, while facilitating our desire to relive those times when beating the next level was the most important thing in our world. All while indulging that which we love now — great food and drink with our friends and family.” Being the first globally recognized video game mascot, Pac-Man is no stranger to merchandising — just the early 80’s alone brought with it a metric ton of Pac-wear, Pac-food, Pac-toons and Pac-underpants.
