This past weekend at D23 Expo Japan 2018, a special event for Disney fans created by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, held at Tokyo Disney Resort®, SQUARE ENIX® and Disney thrilled fans with the announcement of a new Disney•Pixar film based world, Monsters, Inc., in KINGDOM HEARTS III. Two new trailers, revealed during the Expo, take viewers deep into the frights and delights of the animated classic as Sora, Donald and Goofy transform into monsters to blend into the Monstropolis cityscape. During their epic adventure, Sora and his companions join forces with Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan, with a special appearance by Boo. Fright team all-stars Mike and Sulley lend their scaring talents and special combination attacks against their enemies. SQUARE ENIX also revealed new cutscenes and gameplay from the Toy Story-inspired world, Disney princess Rapunzel (Tangled) as a party member, flashy Keyblade transformations, a link system featuring Ariel (The Little Mermaid), and the return of Dream Eater Meow Wow as well as KINGDOM HEARTS villains Marluxia and Vanitas. Kingdom Hearts III is easily one of the most anticipated games in recent memory, especially since its reveal at E3 a few years back. A trailer was shown off at the special orchestra event in Japan recently, but now, for E3, it’s been revealed to the world at large. Here’s the official synopsis of the trailer: “In this action-packed trailer, Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy help Hercules battle various forms of Heartless on Mount Olympus through gorgeous visuals and gameplay. Fans will see Sora in a new form, which allows him to perform special powerful solo and joint attacks on his enemies. Even though there’s no definitive release date (or even a window) for Kingdom Hearts III, fans have been treated to new details and reveals within the last few months or so. First came the trailer from E3 to wet gamers appetites, and now from D23 (courtesy of IGN), we have a big reveal that’s sure to make many happy. Big Hero 6, one of the big surprises in regards to recent superhero films, is coming to Kingdom Hearts III. This marks the second confirmed new world to be in the game, following the reveal of Tangled at E3. “Big Hero 6 is such a special film for me,” said film producer Roy Conli in a special video shown to the audience at the Disney Interactive panel at the D23 Expo, “and we always made sure that each action sequence had a very special meaning. E3 2011 is nearly here, and everyone is speculating on what the big three are going to announce.
