If you’ve been counting, Mythroll Armory has launched ten Kickstarters since their founding, and all of them have been successful. Mythroll simply makes products tabletop gaming enthusiasts want, whether that’s their signature art-styled, hand-carved dice, or related inventions like the one they’ll be introducing next week. Their latest project are these spheroidal Color RPG Dice Spinners. They serve the function of traditional dice but work somewhat differently. About three days ago Oddfish Games launched the crowdfunding campaign for their latest tabletop RPG modification product, the Radiance Adventure Engine. It’s turned into their most successful campaign to date, reaching its initial funding goal in less than 72 hours. What the RAE is meant to do is convert ANY multiplayer tabletop game into a single-player experience. Most tabletop RPGs are meant to be played by more than one person, but Oddfish’s system of plug-in cards promises to make any game self-driving. The Radiance Adventure Engine acts as its own GM, generating a random sequence of story events through a card deck. It uses a four-act narrative structure broken down into eight Adventure Stages. Soon you’ll be able to take your gaming sessions back to the Mesoamerican past when Cinco Soles Games introduces Anawak to the tabletop market. The game’s crowdfunding campaign is live today. Anawak is a minature strategy game for two to four players. Players assume control of one of four houses: House of the Eagle, House of the Jaguar, House of the Olmecs, and the Followers of the Death Sun. Each battle will take an hour to 90 minutes to complete. Matsuzo Machida and Akifumi Kaneko, the men behind the classic JRPS series Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts, have teamed up for a joint project that will revive both games at the same time — spiritually, at least. Like Iga did with Bloodstained and Playtonic did with Yooka-Laylee, Machide and Kaneko are creating a pair of copyright safe lookalikes that allow them to do what they loved again. This interview with Gematsu tells more. The games — Armed Fantasia: To the End of the Wilderness and Penny Blood — will play like Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts respectively. A Kickstarter campaign to partially fund both titles launched just this morning, with a modest (for game development) goal of $750,000. The end goal is to demonstrate interest in the revivals so that a publisher can foot the rest of the bill. Though the Playstation 2 generation didn’t produce as many JRPG hits as the Playstation 1 generation did, two series managed to stand out: the Western-flavored Wild Arms (which started on PS1 but continued on PS2) and the gothic Shadow Hearts trilogy (which was entirely contained to PS2). It’s been a long time since then, but once we received word the creators of both series were looking to team up for a set of revival games, they had our immediate attention. A crowdfunding campaign is about to launch for the project. These games will not be Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts officially — they don’t have the rights. Over the past eight years, writers Vincenzo Ferriero and Ray Chou have been working on a dieselpunk airship adventure comic called Skies Of Fire. The whole story is just eight issues long, but it’s very epic in scale, with intricate art by Pablo Peppino and Bryan Valenza bringing the story to life. Deep in the Aquilan Empire, a kingdom dominated by old-timey airship travel like blimps and biplanes, there lies a monstrous, never-ending storm called The Expanse.
