This Switch Joy-Con Has A D-Pad
The Switch has no D-pad. This design flaw was due to the fact that both Joy-Cons needed to function as separate controllers when detached. Many games simply program the left Joy-Con buttons to serve as a D-pad and the Switch Pro Controller has a D-pad where those buttons are. Accessory maker Hori is coming out with an alternate left Joy-Con (in Japan) that has a D-pad…..and though you’d think this would solve your problems, it also introduces new ones. As it is, the Hori Joy-Con has no rumble or gyroscope. It only works in handheld mode, so you can’t use it undocked. And it ONLY comes in blue, so it assumes you have the main color scheme. With so many drawbacks, this may be the reason Hori has elected to keep this Joy-Con a Japanese exclusive for now. If they ever bring it Stateside, let’s hope they can fix some of its flaws.
