Super Mario Run Already Made Over $14 Million

It seems Super Mario Run is already doing well financially despite some controversy. Android Authority reports that the game has already brought in an estimated $14 million just three days after the game first launched. The numbers come from the app analytical company App Annie. The numbers calculated that the game was downloaded for its free portion for 37 million times during that time period. Ultimately, about 1.4 million users paid the $9.99 price to unlock the full version of the game. App Annie stated on the numbers, “While this number may sound unimpressive, it is important to keep in mind that the game’s pre-launch publicity was unprecedented, casting an unusually wide net. This means that all types of users, including those who were extremely unlikely to pay, were targeted.” The sales numbers include the game making about $5 million for its first day on sale from about five million downloads. Star Wars Battlefront DLC Gets Free Weekend

Electronic Arts and DICE (via Gamerant) are offering a special holiday deal this weekend for the Star Wars Battlefront Death Star DLC. Players who participate in said event will be able to get some XP and credit rewards. This includes a Death Star DLC free trial. The Death Star Free Trial weekend is going to run from December 23-25. The trial includes all the maps and modes that were originally released for the DLC expansion. It’s unknown though if that means players will have access to new playable hero characters Chewbacca and Bossk. Additionally, this coincides with the Holiday Double Score event for Battlefront. As of now, players can earn some bonus rewards when they log in for the event in the aforementioned time period. Players will receive a one-time credit of 5,000 bonus points. THQ Nordic has officially announced that Red Faction is making a comeback, and the classic game is now available for the PlayStation 4. The game is now available for PS4 via an emulation, and it’s available as a $14.99 Digital Download. The first-person shooter is acclaimed for its special GeoMod engine. CI Games, the developers behind Lords of the Fallen, officially revealed some new gameplay footage and also screenshots for the upcoming game, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 this week. The Slaughterhouse map is located in the Georgian mountains, and an American prisoner is held captive in an old slaughterhouse that has been altered as a body disposal site by separatists. Haemimont Games AD and Wired Productions officially announced this weeks that the award-winning PC action-RPG, Victor Vran, will be getting a port to current generation consoles later next year. Wired Productions will co-publish the game worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for both console physical and digital releases. The game will be published globally at digital retail and physical retail early next year. The game is being position as a key point of momentum for Wired Productions’ foray into game publishing for home game consoles. Victor Vran is an isometric RPG where players can venture and journey as they like. Taking the role of Victor, players can obtain an array of weapons, outfits, and demon powers while they explore the city of Zagaravia. According to Wired Productions, the new console version of Victor Vran has been built from the ground-up using Haemimont’s proprietary engine. Additionally, the game will be delivered at 60 frames per second, and it will have local co-op for two players and online co-op for four players.

Cyanide Studio and Focus Home Interactive revealed a new gameplay trailer this week for Styx: Shards of Darkness. Activision officially announced this week that a new December update is set to launch next week for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered game. A new video trailer was also released for the update, which you can see in the player below. The new update will offer players the remaining six remastered multiplayer maps for the game. These maps include Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, and Wet Work. Additionally, the update will feature the new maps alongside the new Hardpoint and Gun Game modes being made available in Modern Warfare Remastered. This marks the first time these modes have been offered in Modern Warfare Remastered. While it seems the results on Infinite Warfare have been mixed so far, getting a remastered version of Modern Warfare has certainly been great. It looks like it was definitely a good year for Sony PlayStation. Coming right off of the Sony PlayStation Experience 2016, a report by Reuters indicated that the Sony Corp. revealed this week that the PlayStation 4 console has sold more than 50 million units. This number was reached as of December 6, thanks to the strong demand for the console in stores for the holiday shopping season. The PlayStation originally launched in late 2013. To date, it has been Sony’s fastest-selling game console. It definitely appears that Sony has learned from its mistakes with the PlayStation 3. Additionally, it was also reported that the PlayStation 4 sales surpassed Xbox One on Cyber Monday sales. And, while Xbox One had stronger sales on Black Friday, PlayStation 4 unit sales surpassed Xbox One in November overall. The game it seems has done very well since it launched on Windows PC via steam, and now it will get a console release as well.
