Injustice 2: New Trailer Features Robin

Warner Bros. Interactive revealed a new trailer this week showcasing a new character joining the roster for Injustice 2 in Robin. You can check out the new gameplay video for Robin in the player below. Based on the dialogue with Batman, there’s a definite implication that this version of Robin is Damian Wayne, the biological son of Bruce Wayne aka Batman. In the alternate timeline of Injustice, Damian Wayne eventually became Nightwing (the red color version), and had actually killed Dick Grayson, the previous Nightwing and Robin. The dialogue with Batman here definitely references that. He says, “I’m your only son, old man.” Batman replies, “Dick was my son too!” This Robin also wielding a deadly sword also showcases that he’s not Tim Drake or Dick Grayson as he was raised and trained by the League of Assassin under the tutelage of his grandfather, Ra’s al Ghul, and his mother, Talia al Ghul. This week, Warner Bros. Interactive revealed two new characters joining the lineup for Injustice 2. Harley Quinn and Deadshot are both joining the game’s roster of fighters from the DC Universe for the upcoming sequel from NetherRealm Studios. You can check out a reveal trailer for Harley Quinn and Deadshot below, featuring new gameplay footage. Seems appropriate to add two prominent members of DC’s Suicide Squad, which has a movie out right now that just hit over $500 million at the worldwide box office. Both Harley Quinn and Deadshot have new designs for the game. The trailer also hinted at numerous new character skins for Harley, one of which is inspired by her classic jester outfit. She also uses her two hyena pets as special attacks as well. One would imagine there will be some unlockable Suicide Squad movie outfits for the characters later on in the game. Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios dropped some big reveals at the San Diego Comic-Con today for the upcoming Injustice 2 fighting game. For starters, two new superheroes were confirmed for the roster in Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle. You can check out the reveal trailer for the new heroes in the player below. Warner Bros. Interactive is promising that the game will have a “massive roster” of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains. So it will be interesting to see just how massive it turns out to be. The new game will continue the cinematic story from Injustice: Gods Among Us. In the new game, Batman and his allies work toward building a society, but they are now set against a group who wants to destroy the regime of an evil, dark and tyrannical Superman from another dimension. As promised, Ed Boon and Netherrealm Studios unveiled two new characters for Injustice 2. One wasn’t much of a surprise, but the other was a happy addition. Wonder Woman was confirmed to be returning (as she was not shown in the trailer there was question as to whether she somehow would be left out), and one of the most fan requested characters, Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle also made his debut in a new trailer showing off their combat skills. “Wonder Woman makes her return to the Injustice franchise. Combining her long range Lasso attacks with quick hitting sword combos makes her an even more powerful brawler than before. And a brand new character to the Injustice universe enters the battle: Blue Beetle! His alien technology allows him to form various gadgets and weapons for his power suit that make him a well-rounded, jack of all trades character that can be effective up close and from afar.”

The Injustice series is one that spans many media. First, it was just a video game that depicted a world where Superman was a dictator. Then, there was a prequel comic showing how that all came to be. Now, it’s get a sequel with more characters, bigger story, and bigger action. At SDCC, Ed Boon, writer Tom Taylor, and more talked about the game and what people can expect. A few guaranteed things is that there will be another prequel comic coming, one that bridges the gap between Injustice and Injustice 2. They also noted some key characters in the sequels story. These include Gorilla Grodd, Supergirl, and more. Ed Book also noted that because Scorpion was the most downloaded DLC character, another Mortal Kombat character would likely be coming, though it won’t be Scorpion. The game is set to arrive in 2017.

Tomorrow, at a special Injustice 2 panel at San Diego Comic Con, Ed Boon and Netherrealm Studios will take the stage and reveal two new characters for the title. This was confirmed earlier by a tweet from Ed Boon himself: “Come see our Injustice 2 panel @ SD ComicCon Friday July 22 with 2 more character reveals!” The image above was a part of the tweet, and shows new character Atrocitus along with to veiled figures. Ed Boon Wants Injustice 2 To Be More Than Just A Sequel

Fans were very excited to see that Injustice 2 was being made, but apparently, developer Ed Boon was more excited that they were excited: “We wanted people to be excited, but the level that they were was something I was not expecting,” Boon told ComicBook.com in an interview at E3 2016. “We were so jazzed about it, and so glad that they were appreciating what we were doing.” Injustice: Gods Among Us, was originally intended to be just a fighting game in the DC Comics universe, however, it evolved into something far more, including a comic book series telling the tale of what happened leading up to the game. Injustice 2 To Have Lots Of DLC Content

Injustice 2 aims to be bigger and better than Injustice, which was already a rather large and full game. But as Ed Boon notes to IGN, one thing developer Netherrealm Studios wants to do is support it longer through DLC: “One of the things we’ve been doing, trying to do more and more with every game… is to support it for a longer period of time,” Boon told IGN. “With DLC characters, we’ve had four with Mortal Kombat, six with Injustice, eight with Mortal Kombat X, and with Injustice 2 we plan on continuing that pattern,” he added, noting “it will certainly be more aggressive than we’ve been in the past.” One of the things Netherrealm is considering is a pay-per-item with the new armor system. One of the surprise hits of the last few years was the fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. Which put the DC Comics universe in the hands of the team from Mortal Kombat for a totally unique fighting and story experience. Yesterday, it was leaked that Injustice 2 from Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios is a reality. A GameStop promo poster proved the game is real. Well today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment officially announced the game and released the first trailer, which you can check out below. The follow-up to the hit DC Universe-themed fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, is due out in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The trailer features an extended cinematic video. A lot of the legendary DC heroes are trapped in some sort of dark room, and they are fighting with each other. The trailer features footage of Aquaman, Batman, Superman and the Flash all with tweaked and altered design. Batman has a transforming armored suit, and so does Flash for that matter. The trailer pushes the game’s tag line, “Every battle defines you.” It should be interesting to see how the game turns out.
