DC Comics has been on a roll since the Rebirth lineup came out. And now, not only are they in the middle of an epic universe-spanning event call Metal, they’re also starting out an epic crossover of sorts between the DC Comics universe and the Watchmen universe via Doomsday Clock. The project is the brainchild of Geoff Johns, who notes in an interview with ComicBookResources.com that he’s very happy with how well the first issue was received and that this is a project that means everything to him.
Since the beginning of DC Rebirth, there’s been a question, “Where does the Watchmen fit into all of this?” It was teased that Doctor Manhattan was the source of the recent “woes” of DC Comics continuity, and then it slowly started to grow and make sense. Manhattan was messing with things, but for what reason, and where does it all head towards? Well, we’re going to find out when Superman goes up again Doctor Manhattan in the Doomsday Clock.
At San Diego Comic Con, a special panel was held for Geoff Johns, one the most legendary writers and creators at DC Comics today. Johns is set to make an even bigger impact on the comics universe with the upcoming event known as the Doomsday Clock. This book will pit two of the most powerful beings in two universes against each other: Superman, and Doctor Manhattan.
In life, we all have inspirations, whether it be a story we’ve read, a show/movie we’ve watch, or a person who just inspired you to greatness or to do a certain things, we all need inspiration for something. For the superhero genre, many consider Richard Donner’s Superman as the inspiration for every film that came after, one way or another. Two men who were deeply inspired by Donner and his Superman film are Geoff Johns and Kevin Feige, who are two of the most powerful men in comics today.
Since the arrival of DC Rebirth, there has been one question that has lingered, “What does Watchmen have to do with this?” As the end of the massive story revealed that Doctor Manhattan was somehow behind the events that caused The New 52 to be born, and is still messing with things today. Now, that story is coming ahead in a brand new story called “Doomsday Clock”, and it’ll be written by none other than Geoff Johns.
Today is an important day in DC Comics history. As the universe will be remade in a way via the DC Universe Rebirth #1 issue. This “remaking” of the universe is meant to give back the light, hope, and legacy that the DC Universe has been known for, but has been criticized for lacking during the last four years via the New 52 era.
