Guillaume Tavernier, creator of the tabletop RPG TAHALA, has launched the crowdfunding campaign for his second project,The Seigneury of Borth Roleplaying Game. Away from the commercial main roads, the little barony of Borth knew how to keep her authenticity and her rural charm. Decorated with cultivated fields and large grassy meadows, the region seems outside of time and out of the power strugglers of the kingdom. But under her surface, merchants enjoy the benefit of being away from watchful eyes of legislation and authority. Borth plays differently than your average tabletop game. Mosr RPG enthusiasts are used to playing with little cards, but in Borth there are just 15: fifteen giant cards containing maps and descriptions of Borth and its citizenry. The tabletop crowdfunding site Game On Tabletop has held their do-it-yourself RPG creation challenge, Get Your Game On, at gaming conventions throughout the world. Now it’s coming to America for the first time at PAX Unplugged next week. Here’s how to play: after entering, contestants are given a “development kit” — a box containing typical RPG items like dice, meeples, blank cards, pencils and more. Using some of these items, they have to come up with a quick-rule game that can be played through in less than 10 minutes. Before the end of the convention, they can demonstrate it for the Game On Tabletop judges, and possibly win prizes. “We’ve been amazed at the response the Get Your Game On challenge has received at game conventions around the world and we can’t wait to bring it to PAX Unplugged,” says Laura Hoffman, business manager for Game On Tabletop. The Dark Eye is the most successful RPG in Germany, where it goes by the name Das Schwarze Auge. It was created by the German RPG company Ulisses-Spiele, and they’re now expanding The Dark Eye with Warring Kingdoms, a robust add-on that will include a new sourcebook, a map set, a new card pack and more. The Dark Eye: Warring Kingdoms is currently running its crowdfunding campaign on Game On Tabletop, a crowdfunding site we’ve previously mentioned here dedicated exclusively to backing RPGs. As you know by now, Kickstarter and Indiegogo finance a lot of tabletop games. There’s so much out there that a French company has decided to create a new website devoted entirely to crowdfunding RPGs. Game On Tabletop is the name, it’s dedicated to funding tabletop gaming projects of all sizes, and it launches June 6. Game On Tabletop’s very first campaign will be an extension of Pinnacle Entertainment’s campaigns for The Goon and Fear Agent RPG games. Recently they both had very successful Kickstarter campaigns. Since both involved properties from Dark Horse Comics, Pinnacle decided to combine them and produce more content for Game On Tabletop’s inaugural campaign.
