Funko Games slipped us a note that The Toy Foundation (TTF) has released their list of nominations for Toy Of The Year, and two of Funko’s own board games made it on that list: Disney Animated and Cranium Big Brain: Detective Game.
It’s doubtful any of the kids playing Five Nights At Freddy’s today have any point of reference for what the game is based on. Pizza parlors with animatronic characters singing ancient radio hits used to be everywhere, but they’ve gradually been scaled back over the decades — Chuck E Cheese no longer has an actual robot Chuck E. The closest Generation Alpha can get to that experience is a video game where the animatronics come to life after dark and stalk you.
In 2024, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will turn 50 years old. This chilling classic revolutionized the horror genre and spawned countless imitators. We’re sure there will be plenty of items to commemorate the occasion — maybe Gun Interactive will finally release that video game we keep hearing about. But even if they don’t, there will be another way to personally live the terror of encountering a backwoods family of cannibals.
The wildly popular Avatar: The Last Airbender will be getting its own co-op strategy game soon, thanks to Funko Games. Crossroads of Destiny is the subtitle to the latest in a growing library of Avatar-themed tabletop experiences.
A Fast & Furious tabletop game? What a great idea! You would look for the rulebook, but there wouldn’t be one…there would barely be a GM, who would describe the scenario before just letting your imaginations run with it, attempting to top each other with increasingly outrageous stunts and maneuvers. It’d be Calvinball with cars.
