Firaxis, the development studio behind games such as Sid Meier’s Civilization, has revealed that XCOM 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this September. A team called The Workshop, which has been built up by former members of the Cal of Duty studio Treyarch, will handle the port.
2K Games have been teasing an AAA title for several weeks now and they have finally revealed exactly what that game is with the announcement of XCOM 2. The sequel to the 2012 turn-based strategy game is being developed by Firaxis Games, who are better known for the Civilization series but also worked on the last entry in the franchise.
Sid Meier’s development team Firaxis has announced that it is working on a brand new game known as Starships. The press release revealing the game describes it as an interstellar strategy game that will release on the PC, Mac and iPad in the coming months. It will tasks players with designing and building starships as they look to expand an empire and explore the galaxy.
2K Games and Firaxis Games have officially announced that the new turn-based strategy game from Sid Meier, Starships, is due out later this year for Windows PC, Mac and iOS. In addition, 2K Games released a new announcement trailer, featuring the game’s opening cinematic intro sequence, which is available below.
Firaxis have released a brand new trailer for Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth that focuses on the gameplay changes they have made to the turn-based strategy game. While Beyond Earth is still part of the Civilization series, it is also a spiritual successor to an earlier Sid Meier game, Alpha Centauri, which originally launched in 1999. It’s not a surprise then that the latest entry does not have as much in common with its Civilization predecessors as players might have initially expected.
2k Games and Developer Firaxis have released a pretty cool trailer for XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Unlike the other XCOM title, this one is much more true to the original series and features the same brand of tactical strategy. Personally, I find myself pretty damn interested at this point.
