Even though YouTube has become to go-to destination in terms of video content, the site has been slow to introduce new features in recent times. Services such as Periscope, Facebook, and Twitter have already been allowing their users to stream video content from anywhere using their mobile devices, but YouTube is now jumping fully onboard by launching their own version of the service.
It is now possible for those playing any of Blizzard Entertainment’s modern titles to stream their footage directly to Facebook. The news means that users will be able to share their gameplay with their friends using Facebook Live, in an exclusive arrangement between the two companies.
As part of a 360 degree video initiative this week, Facebook has released a number of 360 degree videos in its official News Feed. This includes a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens: 360 degree video experience, which you can check out online at this link. The video was created by Disney and Lucasfilm and is based on the upcoming sequel.
Oculus has today announced that their long-awaited virtual reality headset, the Oculus Rift, will not be made available to consumers until at least 2016. Reports over the last year have suggested the device would hit store shelves in 2015 but this new information confirms that isn’t the case. The company also declined to give a firm release date other than the first quarter of 2016, what specifications the consumer version will have or exactly how much it will cost.
