The first episode of Batwoman Number Two aired last night, to mixed reactions from both fans and critics. The most positive thing I’ve heard is that the new Bat has a more interesting personality than the statue that was Ruby Rose, but it’s faint praise. Personally, I thought the episode was a trainwreck. There was no believable way to integrate a complete stranger with no connection to the Kanes or the Foxes into the Batcave, especially within one hour, but Luke and Mary were somehow mesmerized by Ryan Wilder’s pretty speeches nearly instantly. And I don’t know who thought of the idea for making Ryan talk to a plant in her van, but it’s goofy as hell, emphasized by the moment when Hush knocked the plant over during the episode’s climactic fight and Ryan howled “NOOOOOO!”
You’re going to be seeing a lot more of Hartley Sawyer next season on The Flash; the show producers announced last weekend that he has been added to the regular cast. Sawyer plays Ralph Dibny AKA Elongated Man, the TV version of which has proved polarizing among fans. Some viewers can’t stand him for his obnoxious showboating and lecherous skirt-chasing, while other viewers love him for those reasons.
With each new season of a DC Comics superhero show comes more potential to get more and more A or B-list heroes/villains into the fold. After the events of Flash Season 03, we know that the Star Labs team are going to be thinking big in terms of “replacing” Barry Allen after he entered the Speed Force. However, a new casting has seemingly confirmed a new character will be on the team, one that has a huge DC Comics presence.
