eBay auctioneer mainecloseout has somehow obtained a massive stock of unsold toys from the 1980s. Over a hundred items are now for sale at prices which start at ten bucks, and browsing the page is quite the throwback trip. We’re talking unopened games for the Atari and Commodore 64, action figures in their packaging, books, tapes and all sorts of lost relics.
Nintendo only announced the SNES Classic yesterday, but that hasn’t stopped eBay sellers from already listing the system online at more than double the retail price. Eurogamer reported that multiple sellers on the auction site have put their pre-orders up for sale, ranging in price from £180 to £300. Whilst most of the listings are around the £200, that is still more than double the £80 price that stores were selling the system at.
Richard Garriott, aka Lord British, is a famed video game developer who founded the Ultima series, a set of PC games instrumental in founding the modern RPG. He also attempted to sell his blood recently; it didn’t work.
An eBay seller, known as reel.big.fish, is selling a huge video game collection for $164,000. That might sound steep at first but it’s important to realize this is not your typical collection of video games, in fact it is probably one of the most complete ever assembled by a single person. The listing on eBay states that there are over 5700 titles in the collection spanning across 50 different systems.
