Ubisoft has announced not one, but two new Trials games which are coming in 2014. The first is Trials Fusion which is in development for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC which means an end to the Xbox exclusivity of the Trails series thus far. The second is Trials Frontier and is in development for mobile devices. Both of the games appear to have the traditional Trials gameplay but it remains to be seen if the traditional Trials difficulty will be carried across to the new games. Ubisoft also stated that the two games will interact with each other in some way although exactly how remains to be seen. This is not the first time developer RedLynx has developed for mobile as their game Motoheroz, which was very similar to trials, launched a few months ago and was quite good, hopefully they can build on that experience to create a truly amazing Trials game on mobile. You can take a look at the trailer for both games below.
Electronic Arts announced Mirror’s Edge 2 earlier today during their E3 conference. The game is being developed by DICE and will run on an unspecified game engine. To kick off the EA’s 2013 Press-Conference John Vechey of PopCap Games took to the stage to reveal Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, a three-dimensional co-operative third-person shooter coming exclusively to Xbox One and Xbox 360. Producer Brian Lindley and Creative Director Justin Wiebe joined John on stage to play out a four-player co-operative match against a wave of zombies, previewing how plants from the mobile game will return each representing the different styles classically experienced in similar styles of co-op games. The Peashooter fills the role of a normal infantry unit, the Chomper is a powerful melee fighter, the Sunflower supports the whole team by healing them and the Cactus is a powerful ranged shooter with the ability to summon flying units that attack enemy zombies from above. Toward the end of the round two boss creatures, a Disco Zombie and Gargantuan, arrived on the battlefield to take the challenge one step further. From what was shown PvZ: Garden Warfare looks like incredible fun, with colourful characters, slick animations and
At the EA press conference today a new Star Wars Battlefront game was announced. Revealed in a short 20 second teaser, the game is to be developed by DICE, but presumably the new DICE studio in LA and not the Nordic DICE who make the Battlefield games. The teaser seemed to show a player walking across a snowy region, most likely Hoth and saw a aircraft which looked like an Empire Strikes Back-era Snowspeeder crash to the ground. Other than the short trailer all we were shown was the logo, but we do know that the game will be built using the Frostbite 3 engine. The game is presumably a next gen title but this is yet to be confirmed. The trailer can be seen below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Jdkxv05_zRg Expect more info on the new Battlefront over the course of this week.
During the Microsoft Press-Conference, a title originally revealed for use with the Kinect at E3 2011 returned in a substantially different form. This title is Crytek’s Ryse: Son of Rome. Graphically Ryse: Son of Rome looks incredibly impressive, with enemies being sliced to pieces and environments crumbling in a mesmerizing fashion. The combat was also severely visceral, although the footage shown made it look very dependant on quick-time-events. In an interview with Daniel Kayser on SPIKE after the conference, Cevat Yerli of Crytek confirmed this exclusive Xbox One title will use a controller for input, consist of strong camaraderie elements between soldiers and involve expanded “executions” (quick-time-events) which will be much harder to earn and more complex to complete than what was shown during the Press-Conference. You can check out a trailer for Ryse: Son of Rome below; httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rL9SBr7XPpk And a recording of Ryse’s section of the Press-Conference (including gameplay) can be seen here; httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2PKSWiEFyg

The Xbox One will Launch this November across 22 countries Microsoft has today announced. The countries confirmed were North America, the UK and European areas. Pricing was also announced the Xbox one will cost $499 in the US, £429 in the UK and €499 in the rest of Europe. $499 is towards the top end of the price range many have said they would pay, and it certainly seems pricey but think back to the “599 US dollars ” incident and it seems a lot more reasonable. However the UK price of £429 is £4 more than the price which the PS3 launched at in 2007. Also just for a comparison: $499 currently transfers into around £320 meaning UK gamers will be paying over £100 more for the Xbox One than their US counterparts. The general reaction across the internet is that the price is too high, but many are saying they are prepared to pay such a large amount based on the games shown at the conference. Sony is yet to
During the Xbox One section of Microsofts E3 Press-Conference, Dave McCarthy – Microsoft Game Studios’ General Manager – took to the stage to reveal Project Spark. Project Spark appears to be a Kinect and SmartGlass based map creator and editor. Dave stood on the stage using SmartGlass on a Surface tablet with an associate standing at his side, initially his associate used voice commands to bring up a basis for their map, showing options such as an Arctic or Forest terrain and setting the mood to day, evening or night. After the basic terrain was established Dave stepped in using his tablet to change specific details, such as elevating some land and adding a moat. They then zoomed in closer to develop a fresh new town, as well as showing off the mechanic of adding “behaviours” to the “brain” of specific objects, in this case a rock. Doing so let the rock move around, making it active in the town. Finally enemies were added to the map, although numerous enemies
