Disney Infinity is to begin to shut down as Avalanche Software removes support for the game on multiple platforms. Starting from today, players will no longer be able to make in-game purchases on the PC, iOS, Android and Apple TV versions of the title, while the game will be removed from the stores on those platforms on September 30. The game will still be playable but players won’t be able to submit new Toy Boxes, buy new items or access some online features. However, the title will shut down completely on Apple TV and PC on March 3, leaving the game completely unplayable on those services. The console edition of Disney Infinity will continue to work, though online components will not function and no extra content will be able to be purchased. During the first addition of today’s Disney Infinity Next video series, Disney Interactive unveiled its spring rollout plan for Disney Infinity 3.0. Disney Interactive will continue to support the game throughout this year, including new figures, playsets and more from across the Disney pantheon and also Marvel Comics. First up, Disney has released new figurines for the game based on the new animated movie Zootopia for Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, along with four new power discs. In addition, Disney Interactive confirmed that Baloo from The Jungle Book is in the works to coincide with the new, upcoming live action film this year due out on April 15. Baloo looks to be based on his iteration from the classic Disney animated feature. On the Marvel side of things, the new Marvel Battlegrounds playset will launch on March 15. Disney Interactive has released new release details and a trailer for the new Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. It looks like we haven’t seen the last of new Marvel Universe content for Disney Infinity 3.0. The latest edition of the game featured the inclusion of Star Wars worlds and characters across the game, but there will be a brand-new Marvel Universe playset coming out in the first quarter of 2016 with the Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set. The upcoming Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set and will feature four-player, arcade style gameplay. The play set will feature a new story where the heroes and Avengers face off against the deadly duo of Loki and Ultron. The new set will come packaged with Hulkbuster Iron Man and Ultron. A new Captain America figurine will also be released for the set, Captain America – The First Avenger. Disney Interactive has revealed a new trailer this week for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, showcasing the new Twilight of the Republic Play Set for the upcoming video game. You can check out the new trailer in the player below. The Twilight of the Republic Play Set comes with the new Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack. It allows players to experience adventures based in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. This features the adventures of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker before he becomes Darth Vader, his Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano and other classic favorites of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and also the prequel movies. This includes Darth Maul and even the notorious mercenary and pirate Cad Bane. In addition, it looks like the Jedi of Anakin, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda and Ahsoka will be able to confront Darth Maul together. The D23 Expo and Disney Interactive have officially announced that some highly anticipated franchise titles will be showcased at this year’s D23 Expo 2015. Star Wars and Disney video games will be showcased in a special presentation at the Hall D23 Theater and in Disney Interactive’s pavilion on the show flow. The showcased titles include Star Wars Battlefront, the reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise, the highly anticipated sequel Kingdom Hearts III and Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. According to Disney, new gameplay footage, trailers, reveals and surprised will be on display for the presentation. Disney Interactive also announced that new Star Wars characters and Play Sets will be shown for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition at the convention. For Star Wars Battlefront, Electronic Arts is offering guests an in-depth look at the game. Details are terse regarding the presentation for Kingdom Hearts III, but there are supposed to be some special guests in attendance and surprises planned for the event. One of the Star Wars franchise’s most iconic characters is official for Disney 3.0 Edition in the legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Boba Fett. The character will get his own figurine and be a playable character for the upcoming game as a limited edition offering character for the Sony PlayStation platform versions of the game. The announcement of Fett’s inclusion as a limited edition offering was announced yesterday (June 15) at the Sony PlayStation E3 2015 press conference. Boba Fett will only be a playable character for Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars Saga Starter Pack on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles. Disney Interactive will be mixing things up with Disney Infinity 3.0 by adding Star Wars characters to the mix. However, there are many beloved characters of the Star Wars pantheon beyond the classic characters of the coveted Original Trilogy, including the hit animated Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels. Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm have officially confirmed today that the main characters of Star Wars Rebels will be joining Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. Almost the whole crew of the starship Ghost will be accounted for with Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren and Zeb Orrelious; all of whom will have their own dedicated Disney Infinity figurines. Unfortunately, it does not appear that Hera or Chopper are getting their own figurines just yet. Hopefully, they will at least get some sort of appearance in the game.
