You saw them in the Eye Of The Beholder documentary…now Satine Phoenix (Siren Show) and Stefan Pokorny (Founder/CEO of Dwarven Forge) are teaming up to introduce Destination Fantastic…a globetrotting documentary series about fantasies, legends and myths from around the world. Today Satine and Stefan hosted a Facebook livestream promoting the upcoming series — a livestream they did not sent a press release out for until day-of, and we did not actually see until one hour before its end. A dragonload of memorable artwork has graced the books, boxes and manuals of the Dungeons and Dragons series over the decades, and an upcoming documentary from The Nacelle Company is all about the history of D&D’s pretty pictures. Eye of The Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons will be released in two months. Directed by Kelley Stagle and Brian Stillman (Netflix’s The Toys That Made Us), it contains more than 40 interviews with fantasy illustration superstars, all of them veterans of D&D — including Larry Elmore, Jeff Easly, Clyde Caldwell, Brom, Tony DiTerlizzi, Todd Lockwood, Erol Otus, and Margaret Weiss, as well as many luminary fans who didn’t make their fortunes in D&D, but admire it from afar.  Last time we met, we spoke about how to build a good team member.  This time around, we look at how to BE a good team member and teamwork in D&D. Every D&D player is not wandering around the world, fighting monsters and looting treasure by themselves.  Each Fighter, Wizard and Rogue is a member of a Party. For whatever their individual reasons, sticking together is how each member of the Party gets rich/famous/not dead.  In your experience with this game, you’re going to run into players that only care about themselves. They are not the norm, or the majority in any way but they do exist. They want all the loot, want to take credit for all successes and think of themselves as the “leader”, no matter the context in the story.  These people suck. You shouldn’t play with them. However, at their table are a bunch of other players that want to get rid of that player too. That’s because those other players don’t suck. They work together

 Last year, the good folks at Geek Tank Games asked me to review their map token sets.  They are a great addition to any DM toolbox and I was happy to spread the word. This year, they’re at it again, their latest Kickstarter launched last week with 3 new tabletop token sets.  Map tokens, for anyone not familiar are pre-made terrain you can add to a tabletop map to flesh out a scene.  Geek Tank Games already has 3 great tabletop token sets out there, I especially recommend the Campsite Set. IDW has been working with the Dungeons & Dragons license for a while now, and they’ve just revealed their latest project, coming in 2019: A Darkened Wish, a new miniseries set in the Forgotten Realms. In A Darkened Wish, years of hard-fought peace in the Sea of Swords are rent asunder, and legendary heroes must return to the region to defeat an unconceivable foe! Join Helene, a young wizard from the streets of Mintarn, and her friends as they grow from raw recruits to battle-honed warriors. The miniseries was written by B. Dave Walters, who hosts The Rundown web series for 20th Century Fox, and co-created the Electropunk comic series, among other projects. RPG makers Jetpack 7 have announced Legendary Dragons, an enhancement tome for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, and the crowdfunding campaign is underway this month. To call the Kickstarter successful would be an understatement; as of now it’s generated a stockpile of $60,368 (they asked for just $19,000!) The Australian company has now released the first set of atmospheric sounds for a D&D campaign: specifically Waterdeep: Dragon Heist Chapters 1 through 3.
