The comics company UDON Entertainment works with a lot of video game properties, Capcom’s most prominently. They’ve published comics, art books and manga based on Street Fighter, Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Dark Souls, Persona, Bayonetta, Bloodborne, and Darkstalkers…which brings us to their latest announcement.
Capcom is one of the most prominent makers of AAA title games. Recently though, their focus is stuck with four franchises. They had been focusing too much on Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter and Resident evil. Capcom has a large library of IPs that needed a revival. Recently they made a revival of Ghost N’ Goblins and it is great. The Great Ace Attorney is also getting a Western release but there are more Capcom Ips that needed a revival.
There will be no more entries in the Darkstalkers series in the near future according to Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono. Speaking in an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu (and translated by Event Hubs) the producer revealed that the latest instalment was simply not successful enough to justify Capcom working on additional titles. My apologies,” said Ono. “We won’t be releasing a new installment in the Darkstalkers series anytime soon. As we didn’t manage to hit our sales targets for Darkstalkers Resurrection… so…” There is still some hope for fans of the series though as Ono says that all that if the game went on to sell more copies that might allow for a sequel to be made, “Well, in that case all you have to do is buy about 4 million copies of Darkstalkers Resurrections!”
