I first saw Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure on Showtime in the early 90s, but I wouldn’t really appreciate the movie until my high school years. One of the most memorable characters in the Bill And Ted movies has been Missy, the stepmother of both members of the duo throughout the films. Missy was played by my newest interview subject, Amy Stoch. There’s so much more to Amy Stoch than Missy, though, and I knew she would make for a great interview subject.
My newest interview subject, Deborah Voorhees, is the first talent from the Friday The 13th franchise that I’ve interviewed for Pop Geeks. Deborah played Tina in Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning, but that’s not the only connection she has to the world of horror. In recent years, Ms. Voorhees, after spending time as a journalist and a teacher, has returned to the field of film as both a writer and director, and she’s gone from being scared of horror films to directing and writing them. We discussed all of this and more on Thursday, August 2nd, and I hope you all enjoy getting to know her.
I was first introduced to Audrey Landers’ work via the 1985 film version of A Chorus Line, where she played Val and memorably performed the song “Dance Ten, Looks Three”. As I’m always learning more about the pop culture of the past, especially the 1980s, I came to discover more about Audrey, and I was impressed. She acts, she sings, she composes songs and she’s logged more miles of travel than most of her contemporaries. I spoke to her on May 2nd, and I hope you all enjoy getting to know this versatile talent.
My first exposure to my next interview subject came when I purchased a VHS copy of The Naked Cage in the mid-00s after having read about it in several books about 80s movies. An excellent contribution to the genre of women-in-prison movies, the film starred Shari Shattuck as a woman named Michelle, who is framed for a bank robbery and has to survive a maximum security prison. I loved that movie, and a decade or so later, I befriended Shari Shattuck on Facebook. There’s more to her than acting, though. She’s also had experience as a model and an author, and I talked to her on Tuesday, April 25th about all that and more. I hope you enjoy getting to know this talent.
