Most of DC’s animated superhero movies of late have been adaptions of famous one-shot stories from their library…and they’re kind of running out of them. Their next two projects were announced at SDCC this weekend, and both of them have been adapted before in other media.
Crisis on Infinite Earths
The CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event begins in just two days. It’s being hyped as the biggest crossover in the network’s history, and there’s ample evidence to back that up. You see, this one doesn’t just bring together all the stars of DC’s ubiquitous current superhero lineup….it brings back someone from just about every previous live-action DC show that’s existed.
If you’ve been watching The CW at any point over the last month, then you definitely know a Crisis is coming. First teased nearly a year ago at the end of the previous crossover (Elseworlds), Crisis On Infinite Earths promises to be the largest DC superhero teamup ever witnessed on TV.
WOW! The CW confirmed a new special guest would be making an appearance on the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover this December….and it’s a Bat-Doozy! Kevin Conroy will be appearing on-screen in the role of an elderly Bruce Wayne, which he personified in the iconic Batman: The Animated Series! Not only is this great news, it’s also the closest we’ve ever come to actually getting Batman to appear on one of these shows.
Some interesting news came out today about the casting choices for The CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earths mega-crossover. Brandon Routh will once again suit up to play Superman, a role he originally filled on the big screen in Superman Returns.
Crisis on Infinite Earths is easily one of the most important, if not the most important, DC Comics event in history. It paved the way for the modern era of superheroes. Including retconning key characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and more into the versions we now know them as.
