It’s not over yet! The Grand Prix may be over, but Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is keeping the content coming with what’s been dubbed the “Beenox Pack.” Is it self-indulgent to create an entire pack around the development team? Maybe, but after all this work, they’ve earned it. The pack will be automatically unlocked for all players on all systems. As the name suggests, the Beenox Pack introduces a boatload of material to the game branded with the Beenox logo. Look for Beenox-themed skins, kart, paintjob and wheels, as well as new ghost times in the Time Trial mode where you can compete against the Beenox team’s personal records. Beat Beenox and get a set of Legendary Wheels. There’s more….for anyone who hasn’t unlocked the characters Crunch and Geary yet, this update will automatically set them free, the latter with a legendary skin. The team behind Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has been working diligently to keep the game full of new content. The latest event to hit the tracks: the Rustbelt Grand Prix. Within this event you’ll find a new character, Mega-Mix: a ghoulish Frankenstein combination of Dr. Neo Cortex, N. Gin, Tiny Tiger, and Dingodile. Mega-Mix gets its own track, Mega-Mix Mania, to race on….a metal-themed monstrosity of steel and fire. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is a juiced-up remake of the classic late 90s racer, containing all the tracks from the original game, all the tracks from its PS2 sequel, and plenty of extra content in the form of free DLC updates. Now Crash and the gang are getting into charity work, via Activision’s own Call of Duty Endowment program. The program helps war veterans obtain high-quality jobs when they leave the service, and CTR’s new Firehawk Kart is meant to support the cause. The Firehawk Kart is a vehicle fashioned in the style of an old-timey WWII biplane, complete with “kamikaze” face on the nose. 100% of profits earned from the Firehawk Kart’s sale will go to the COD Endowment. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is getting dressed up for Halloween. This month’s new season introduces the Spooky Grand Prix, the fourth Grand Prix to be held in the game. Three new racers will arrive with this update: Nina Cortex, Dr. N. Brio, and Komodo Moe. The former will appear in the Nitro Gauge while the latter two will show up in the Pit Stop. Nina comes with her own new track: Nina’s Nightmare! “In this new track you will race through misty marshes, eerie gardens, and twisted hallways of a haunted manor,” reads the official description. “Dodge your way around pumpkins spitting green ooze that can slow you down to a dead stop. Keep your head in twisted hallways under the foreboding eyes of ancestors long since passed. Here’s something we never expected to hear: Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, the remake of the classic Playstation kart-racer, is going to have seasonal content updates. New content will appear in the game for months after its release, free of charge. That’s definitely something that never happened in the original! Already, the game is said to have all the tracks from the first game, AND all the tracks from its lesser-played sequel, Crash Nitro Kart. Now developer Beenox has revealed a Grand Prix event that will introduce new characters and tracks to CTR post-launch. The first of these will begin July 3, not long after the release of the game. Today, in a first-look of CTR TV, hosts Chick and Stew revealed all the fun awaiting players in the Grand Prix. They also revealed that fans will get a brand-new track with each Grand Prix. We got a new trailer for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled today, as well as some new information: this game will be even larger than previously thought. It’ll not only contain all the original tracks and karts from the PS1 release (remastered with modern visuals and poly-counts), but it will also have the 13 tracks that were introduced in its sequel, Crash Nitro Kart. “Since the very beginning, we’ve said we’re giving fans a whole lot more in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled,” said Thomas Wilson, co-studio head at Beenox. “As fans, we know the important role that Crash Nitro Kart plays in the Crash franchise among the community, so we’re thrilled to be remastering the tracks, karts and even the battle modes to give players an awesome Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled experience.” Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will be playable at PAX East in Boston later this week.
