For a certain generation of thumb-twitchers, there’s no experience greater than heading off into a pixelated bullet-hell world of enemy soldiers and aliens. Contra was one of the NES’s most popular games, and publisher Konami sequeled it many times, especially in the early 90s. The Contra series has occasionally been resurrected now and then, but for the Contra Anniversary Collection, Konami decided to stick to its heyday.
